Phoenix POV

"Let us agree not to tell anyone what happened at the park," Celeste said as we walked down the hall.

"Or the morgue," Lucifer said.

"Can you tell me now why you weren't at school yesterday?" I said, curious.

"I'll tell you and Cheryl at lunch," Celeste said.

"Phoenix!" shouted a voice behind us. We turned around and saw Reggie along with all of us clowns gathered, holding bats with their fists clenched.

I lowered my head. Bellroc said not to use your powers irresponsibly, don't use them irresponsibly.

"Oh, frick off!" Lucifer said.

"I ain't talking to you, I'm talking to that demigod. My dad's office set on fire. He could've DIED!"

"Oh, is he okay?" Celeste said.

"Yeah, no one got burned."

"Then why are you getting mad at Terry?"

"Because her stupid leader set fire to the building! My dad could've died!"

"But he's fine, right?" Lucifer said, "And you probably have no freaking proof that Bellroc was involved."

"I do!"

"What proof then?"

"It was fire."

"I mean, you literally have no proof that Bellroc was involved. I mean Bones could've set the building on fire. There's that possibility!"

"But he didn't do it! It was the leader of your stupid Arcane Order as payback."

"Bellroc is not one for retaliation no matter what the situation is." I knew that was a bit of a lie. Sometimes Bellroc would do an act of vengeance, but that was usually because she was protecting us. The point was, she wouldn't be vindictive over something as stupid as this. And when Bellroc was vindictive one or two people were hurt. This fire must've been an accident.

"You know, where's your girlfriend Nora?" Lucifer asked. "Isn't she supposed to be caressing the side of your face right now?"

"She didn't come to school; said she was sick. But it's none of your business."

"What do you want with Terry?" Celeste asked.

"If you set her house on fire, not only will you endanger her brother, but you'll be charged for arson," Lucifer said.

"Not the house."

He formed a ball of fire in his hands. He swirled it around the room and shot it towards me. Without even flinching, I held up my hand and froze it instantly.

"You're pathetic, Reggie," I said, turning around and walking away.

I was walking outside at break time. We usually got a thirty to forty-five minute break where we'd get to take a break from work since a lot of students were complaining about getting stressed. Normally kids would take what they had left of their lunch outside and sneak it past the teachers, but I took walks around the field singing to myself.

"Oh, it's just me, myself, and I. Solo ride until fly. Cause I got me for life. Oh I don't need a hand to hold

Even when the night is cold. I got that fire in my soul. Oh, it's just me, myself and I. Solo ride until I dieOh, it's just me, myself and I. Solo ride until I die. 'Cause I got me for life. Oh I don't need a hand to hold. Even when the night is cold. I got that fire in my soul. I don't need anything to get me through the night. Except the beat that's in my heart. Yeah, it's keeping me alive. Like ba-ba-ba-ba-da-ba. Ba-ba-ba-da-ba. Ba-ba-ba-ba-da-ba. Ba-ba-ba-da-ba. Ba-ba-ba-ba-da-ba. Ba-ba-ba-da-ba. 'Cause the music fills me good and it gets me every time."

"What'cha singing?" Reggie asked.

I rolled my eyes, but before I could sprinkle my wings in pixie dust, one of his other clowns sprayed me with water. I tried to lift up my wet wings.

"Now you can't get away."

I easily moved away from him by skating away from him while he shot blasts of fire at me. I formed a shield that most seniors in school wouldn't be able to conjure up. A metallic chain wrapped around my waist and flung me to the side, destroying the shield.

"Show off!" Reggie shouted.

He ran towards me and kicked me to the ground as I tried to stand up.

"Why don't you fight back?" He said, pressing his heavy foot on my chest.

I laughed and wiped a little bit of blood from my lip. "It would not be a fair fight then."

He punched me in the face.

"I know you have something to do with Nora's disappearance."

He kicked me into one of the football goal posts. Reggie and the other kids walked away, leaving me behind. And it was just me, myself, and I. Unable to fly. With nothing but sorrow and fear in my soul. And I needed a hand to hold.
