"I literally can't believe that Mom made us get the food ourselves, when she has a car."

"One, we're not too far from the pizzeria. Second, I want to prove that we are responsible."

"Who does that?"

"If they see that we are mature, we have more privileges."

"Of course...ugh, this high school year is gonna be so boring."

"We've only been there for one day."

"I know, but we're just going to be switching between magic classes. There's nothing interesting about that. Terri, don't you want to be MORE?"

"I don't think I can be any more than what I am."

We were walking home by the docks while I continued to think more about Terri's question. There were a set of several, small, old stores that apparently were still in business.

We heard a clattering sound in the distance.

"What was that?" Terri asked.

"Racoons. Stray dogs. I'm not looking forward to getting rabies, let's go home."

"No, it sounded too big to be an animal." He started heading towards the ally.

"Terri! What the heck are you doing?!"

He grinned and began walking backward towards the alley.

"Just going to check it out. Don't be a coward."

Imagine my surprise when I saw three people breaking into a store. Well, there were three people. One of them had Freddy Krueger-esque fingers. They were hunched over and trying to pick the lock to the store with the sharpest one---the index. There was a smaller girl, one looked to be the age of a sixth grader. She held several sharp objects in her hands, most likely knives. Once the door was unlocked, she snuck inside and quickly returned with a glowing object, one I could not quite identify. The final person nodded at the two of them. They were about to leave before the one with claws stopped dead.

"Oh, no, we got caught," said the smaller person.

"It's not a problem," the final person said, walking into the moonlight.

She had deathly pale skin, bright red eyes, butterscotch yellow hair in tight curls, a long black dress complete with a black cape. She bowed as if attempting to show some respect, but we could all see the evident evil grin on her face.

"Let's get out of here," the smaller person said.

"Take care of them," the woman with curled hair said. When she turned around, I realized that she had a pair of tattered, hole-filled lavender purple wings, that I couldn't help but stare at.

The clawed person finally stood at his full height. The guy was towering about, maybe, eight or nine feet. His large, bright eyes were staring at me. The pupils were snake-like slits. Suddenly a wide grin, filled with incredibly sharp teeth spread across his face. He stepped into the moonlight just as the smaller one said.

"Terry, let's go," Terri whispered.

"What? You're not afraid of the little one are you?"

"What do you call me?" The smaller one said, throwing one of her daggers at me. Miraculously I caught it, having no idea what I was even doing. Call me stupid for doing this; call me brave. I felt that I was a bit of both, but most especially...stupid.

The taller one extended a long tongue and rubbed it against my face. The saliva was stinging and felt like a hundred wasp stings.

"What are you?" I asked. I got a good look at him, too. Strangely there was a long, jagged scar on his neck that seemed to be a recent injury, yet healing at the same time that had me intrigued. He punched in the face, knocking me to the ground.

The smaller one laughed as they both walked off. I did the only thing I could think of. I blasted the taller figure with ice. It hit him in the hand with the longest claw. He hissed at me. He held up his other finger and put it in a X-motion

"You kids are dead," he snarled before walking off.

The smaller kid stuck out her tongue, but a tendril quickly pulled her into the shadows where they disappeared.

"What just happened?" Terri asked.

"You heard him." I said, bringing a hand to my neck. "We're dead."
