I tried to get some sleep, but I immediately woke to hear shouting. Loud shouting. I knew it was my parents. Why were they angry? What was so bad about me being a part of the Arcane Order? Being with Skrael? Was that really a crime?
"What does she even mean?" I heard Mom say.
"I-I don't know."
"Do you think it's the kids at school?"
"Probably," Dad said.
"Oh, my gosh! What if they've been taking drugs?"
'What?! No!'
"I'll be sure to talk to the principal."
I groaned and pulled the covers over my head. My phone let out a beeping noise from my desk. I quickly put it on silent-mode and checked my text messages. I'd gotten three texts from Cel. One from Amaya. And one from Terri. Cel had said:
I'm telling my mom about the team and the Seamstress.
She doesn't care.
Good-night.
Amaya had said:
Have you told your parents about the Arcane Order?
And Terri said:
Sorry about what happened. :( I wish I could help, but I'm grounded, too.
His message was the only one that I responded to.
I've got a feeling that the rest of the team is going 2 get punished 4 this
He responded with a sad-faced emoji. I climbed into the bed and pulled over my sheets, trying to go back to sleep again. Then I heard the patter of something on my window. Rain.
'Oh, great. Now it's raining tonight.'
The rain turned into a downpour and lightning and thunder flashes and boomed outside my window. I didn't care. The house went quiet after the first strike of lightning. As I began to drift off, I heard something knock at the door. Skrael climbed into my room and sat on the bed. Despite the heavy rain, he wasn't wet whatsoever.
"Skrael, what are you doing here?!" I whisper-shouted.
"What does it look like I'm doing?" he said.
"Getting me in trouble. You've got to go."
"You told your parents, didn't you?"
I nodded, "I know I'm a demigod, but I've got another life, too, you know. And they've locked my door, and I can't escape. I don't think you know what this means, but I'm grounded."
Skrael looked at the door then at the window.
"I'll let you out this one time."
"My parents will be furious. They already are now. They think that instead of being a geniune demigod, I've been taking drugs."
Skrael raised an eyebrow.
"Exactly!"
"Just...I'll pretend to be asleep in your presence, and I'll let you go out and have some fun. What do you say?"
I looked out the window.
"Promise to stop the rain while I'm outside, right?"
He smiled and nodded. I smiled and hugged him tightly.
"You are the BEST." I opened the window and jumped out, flying around.
I appeared on a mountain near a frozen lake. The entire area was deserted and probably freezing cold, but I didn't mind the chill. I began playing with my powers freely for a while.
