After the train stopped, the students crowded into the corridor to get out. The air outside was cold and Lyla regretted leaving in her trunk the heavy coat she had just bought but, on the other hand, they only had to wear school uniforms. At one point a deep voice echoed in the air:
"First year! First year this way!". The man who called the first-year students was very tall, with shaggy, brown hair and a long beard.
As soon as he saw him, Harry ran and made his way through the crowd, with Lyla and Ron following. The first-year boys followed Hagrid for a stretch of the woods and then found themselves on the shores of the Black Lake. Waiting for them, they found a small fleet of boats that would escort them to Hogwarts. Lyla and the boys boarded one of the boats along with another freshman named Seamus Finnigan. After a short while, everyone was on the boats and set off, all the boats detached themselves from the shore and started to go on their own.
They were all silent, too busy watching the castle and its thousands of illuminated windows, which stood at the top of the mountain in front of them.
Lyla was speechless and, together with Ron, threw a little scream of excitement. It was there, a few yards from them, the dream of a lifetime, and she couldn't wait to step beyond the immense front door of that castle.
Waiting for them in front of the main door was a woman with dark hair gathered in a bun and round glasses leaning on the tip of her nose, wearing a hat and an emerald cape, she was supposed to be the vice-principal: Professor McGonagall.
"Thank you, Hagrid. From here on, I'll take care of it", said the woman, and then instructed the students to follow her.
They stopped at the top of a staircase. Professor McGonagall addressed all first-year students:
"Welcome to Hogwarts! The feast for the beginning of the school year is about to begin, but first, you will be sorted into your respective houses, your house will be a bit like your family. The houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. As long as you're here, the triumphs you each get will earn points to your house, and every violation will cause the loss of points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points will win the Houses Cup. I'll come back as soon as we're ready for the ceremony, please stay here and quietly" said the teacher, leaving the students and heading out of the room.
Lyla's tension rose above the stars but her thoughts were interrupted by an annoying voice of a blonde boy standing among them:
"Then it was true what was said on the train, Harry Potter came to Hogwarts", the boy began by saying. There was a sudden buzz between them, Harry Potter had finally returned to the Wizards world.
