Jennie
Lisa followed close behind Jennie as they made their way through the lobby, toward her office. Jennie made it a point to greet and acknowledge every person she passed and introduced Lisa on the way. Even if she was unsure of Lisa's true intentions, she was not going to be the exact thing she disliked in others. She refused to treat anyone as if they were beneath her or were employees instead of people. Lisa was a person and deserved to be introduced to everyone, not ignored and discarded like office furniture.
Once they reached her office, she immediately shut the door and kicked off her heels, letting her feet rest on the soft carpet as she walked around and took a seat at her desk. Lisa took a seat on the small couch along the wall and leaned back, stretching her arms across the back of it.
"I promise we won't stay long today, just for a couple of hours so I can get a few things done. I am pretty exhausted and need to rest up a little before we go to the fundraiser tonight."
"I heard you telling Mrs Youn that you had some leg cramps that kept you awake." Lisa said with concern in her voice.
"Yeah, unfortunately leg cramps are a frequent and unwanted visitor in my life." Jennie tried to make light of her own discomfort.
"How many hours did you sleep last night?"
"About two." she answered honestly.
"Shit Jennie, why didn't you come wake me up? I could have helped you."
"I wasn't going to wake you up for that. I get leg cramps all the time. It's no big deal." Jennie hoped she was more convincing than she felt.
"It is a big deal if you are only getting two hours of sleep at night, and you said it yourself, your symptoms get worse when you are run down. You got to take care of yourself Jennie, and I can help."
Why are you making it so hard to dislike you, Lisa Manoban?
She let out an exaggerated sigh before she agreed, because deep down she knew that Lisa was right. It was only a matter of time before her little body started punishing her for her neglect.
"I'm not good at the whole asking for help thing..." she admitted.
"I'm gathering that," Lisa chuckled.
"I promise to come ask you for help when my legs get too cramped for me to sleep."
"See that wasn't so hard." Lisa said with a smile that lifted just enough of her mouth to reveal her perfect teeth.
Jennie gave Lisa a warm smile in return before she turned her attention to the documents in front of her and got to work. Two hours had passed before she felt her eyelids get extremely heavy as she read over the financial records in front of her. The sleepy bobbing of her head caught Lisa's attention and she stood and went over to Jennie's side.
"Jen, you're exhausted." Lisa said as she made her way over to Jennie.
She widened her eyes and shook her head trying to rid herself of the fatigue she felt. "I'm okay, really." she assured Lisa, turning her gaze back to the documents in front of her.
Placing her hands on either side of her desk chair, Lisa swivelled Jennie's seat around until she was facing her. Bracing her weight on the arms of her chair, Lisa leaned forward closer to Jennie's face as she looked down at Jennie with a smirk.
"You are stubborn as hell, you know that?" Lisa chuckled.
"I know I am." Jennie admitted, secretly loving how close Lisa was to her.
"You also know you're exhausted, Jennie. You need a few hours of sleep - good quality sleep." Lisa leaned her face closer to Jennie's before she spoke in a soft tone as she lowered the volume of her voice.
