Jennie
Later on that evening, after dinner, Jennie sat in the media room, curled up on one the couches reading. Dara had come down with some sort of cold or flu and needed Lisa's medical attention, but when she finally joined Jennie in the media room, she had a tablet in her hand and sat in the chair opposite Jennie, but she could see the screen as she passed, and it was nothing but text.
"So she does read." Jennie sassed, eyeing Lisa playfully.
"I've got a couple brain cells that like to rub together every once in a while." Lisa joked with a wide smile.
"What are you reading?" she asked.
"Medical journals."
Jennie wrinkled her nose at Lisa's words. "That's no fun."
"Hypokalemia is plenty fun to read about." Lisa said with a wink.
She's reading about my medical condition.
Jennie's heart swelled a little and she gave Lisa a warm smile. Bambam and Marcus joined them a few minutes later with a replacement bulb for the projector and as soon as Bambam stepped down from installing it, Jin and Hoony appeared in the doorway. "Go get ready Bug, I'm taking you out tonight." Jin said with a smile, leaning against the door frame. "Really?" she asked excitedly. "It's ladies night at the club and you've been cooped up in this house for an entire week and need to go let your hair down, at least for a few hours. Come have some fun... please?" Jin gave her an over expressive pouty lip that she couldn't say no to. "I'll go if you stop making that face." she agreed with a laugh. "Done."
Jennie looked over at Lisa with excitement in her eyes, but didn't see the same emotion coming from her. "Your dad wants me on the grounds tonight to tend to Dara since she's sick, but I'm sure Marcus would be happy to take you." Lisa said, giving Marcus a slap on the back. Lisa's suggestion let a little wind out of Jennie's sails. She was excited to go out and have some fun, but she would be lying if she said she wasn't disappointed that Lisa wouldn't be there.
It's not like we are dating and she's yours Jennie. You'll survive without Lisa in your space for a few hours.
Jennie was having to reprimand and remind herself that her relationship with Lisa needed to stay on the friendship level. Every time her heart started to want something more, her mind would snap her to her senses. Lisa was there to protect her, not date her and despite genuinely caring for her, caring for someone doesn't always mean they want a romantic relationship. The last thing she wanted to do was assign false meaning to Lisa's friendly flirting and ruin their dynamic. A crush was one thing - dating was something totally different.
Friendship is what we have and it is probably best that it stays that way... right?
"Marcus, you up for a ladies night?" Jennie asked, trying to conceal her flash of disappointment.
"Boss?" Marcus said looking at Bambam for approval of the swap.
"Fine by me." Bambam answered as his phone buzzed in his hand. Jennie watched Bambam's face light up when he glanced down at his phone. He smiled at the screen with a grin that was big enough to flash some teeth and his bossy and serious nature seemed to dissolve into something else in an instant.
I don't think I've ever seen Bambam smile like that ever.
"Put it on speaker." Lisa said with a grin as if he knew who it was. Bambam did as she asked and held the phone out, putting the call on speaker as he answered it. "Hey there gorgeous" Bambam said, smiling from ear to ear.
That must be his girlfriend Mina.
"Oh my God I missed that deep voice today." Mina sighed.
