Lisa
Lisa let Jennie sleep most of the day away, wanting to make sure Jennie had all of her strength for the difficult trip they were going to make that evening. She made sure Jennie was hydrated and medicated, but one thing she couldn't help her with was to prepare her for the emotional side of what they were about to do.
Before everything went down, the snakes in the grass stayed hidden in the grass, trying to hide themselves from Jennie and remain unseen, but these snakes weren't hiding anymore. Jennie was going to be walking into a damn snake pit as the only enemy and it was not going to be easy. The worst part was that Jin was going to be the leader of those snakes and even though Jennie knew the plan, it still wasn't going to be easy for her to stomach.
The teams flew private so they could freely discuss the plans for the next two days. "Remember Jennie, Jin isn't the only one whose got to put on an act when we get there. You guys are supposed to have cut ties. You can't hug him or be nice to him and you can't let on that anything is out of the ordinary. If he acts like he hates you, you have to do the same. That's the story he spun and you've got to play along for it to work." Lisa said, with all of her teammates nodding along with her words.
Jennie swallowed hard, but squared her shoulders and lifted her chin. "Okay. I can do that." she said, feigning confidence.
"It's not gonna be easy Doll, but we're all here for you." Marcus assured her.
"Remember we're here to make this an easy in and out. We're taking Jennie to the office to sign the papers so Jin can take control, then we're getting anything she needs from the house before we're gone. Jennie doesn't need to be here when the rest of the plan goes down." Jong-kook reminded the group.
Jong-kook was right, when the teams went in to take down Jiyong, Jennie didn't need to be anywhere near South Korea. Lisa needed her safe at home where she could think straight and handle business without worrying about Jennie's safety.
"Also, shit's gotten a little darker since we were last here. No one is hiding in the shadows from Richard anymore. They are out in the open and have declared Jennie as the enemy which means she doesn't go anywhere without at least a two-man team. We aren't expecting any problems Jennie, but it's always better to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best." Bambam said, giving her leg a comforting squeeze.
All eyes were on Jennie, trying to gauge her reaction and ability to handle all of this, but my Jennie is strong.
She was terrified and rightly so, but she didn't show it. She sat with her spine straight and her chin up, listening and nodding in agreement with everything that was said without showing a hint of fear, but she couldn't fool Lisa.
Lisa laced her fingers between Jennie's and held her hand as the group spoke, studying her face for small micro-expressions that told Lisa she was scared, but she was trying her hardest to be brave. Every so often she'd squeeze her hand, wanting some physical reassurance that Lisa was more than happy to give her.
I'm right here Jennie girl.
"Everybody got a bottle of Jennie's meds?" Lisa asked, watching every one of her teammates pull a packet of pill from their pockets. "Those things don't leave your sight and if they do, toss them. Also anything she ingests needs to be watched. No restaurants this time round." Lisa said, squeezing Jennie's hand.
"Jay B, Lucas, and Ten are meeting us there, but I've got their stash of Jennie's meds and will fill them in on protocols. Jong-kook said.
"I appreciate it, man," Lisa said. The air grew thick with silence as the teams continued to evaluate Jennie and her emotional state.
"How are you doing Jennie? You ready for all this?" Hoony asked, breaking the silence and asking the question that everything was thinking.
"Ready as I'll ever be." she said with a half-smile.
"It's okay for you to be afraid or nervous, sweetie. And if you are, you need to tell us so we can fix it or take note of it." Lisa said.
Letting out a hard breath, Jennie looked down at the floor and then back up to the group who were all staring at her, wishing she'd say what was on her mind.
"You want me to be completely honest?" she asked Lisa.
"Always." Lisa answered, giving her all the time she needed to answer.
"I'm scared that someone is going to try to kill me before we get to the office to sign the papers. Then when the papers are signed I'm worried someone is going to try to kill Jin." Jennie said honestly.
"You know we'd never let that happen, right?" Lisa said softly.
"I know, but what if someone sneaks up from behind me or catches you all by surprise?" Jennie said softly, taking her guard down and letting them in.
"I'll stand behind you the whole time. That'll be my spot, just like during the service. If you feel anyone behind you, you'll know it's me, okay Doll?" Marcus said in a comforting tone that the team wasn't used to hearing.
"And we have trained our entire lives to make it incredibly difficult to catch us by surprise and you've got two full teams dedicated to keeping you safe. We can't promise that everything will be smooth sailing, but we can promise that no harm will come to you Jennie." Bambam said definitively.
Jennie took in a breath slowly and held it before pushing it out slowly, just as Lisa had taught her. Everyone on the plane knew exactly what she was doing and passed around knowing glances at how brave she was being. "Okay... I trust you." Jennie said. Her words were meant for the team, but she was looking directly at Lisa when she said them.
I'll take care of you Jennie girl. You're mine and no one is going to hurt you when I'm around.
