Jennie
"Let me go take these to Bambam first." Jennie whispered, secretly loving the disappointment on Lisa's face when she didn't immediately hop into bed with her. "Make it quick. If I have to wait any longer to hold you, I might lose my damn mind." Lisa said with a wink that flooded her insides with butterflies.
Jennie gave Lisa a flirty smile over her shoulder as she left the room and headed down the hall towards the kitchen where they had found Bambam sleeping. As she rounded the corner she heard Bambam's deep voice echoing off of the kitchen tile.
I guess he's awake now. I hope we didn't wake him up.
Peeking around the corner, she saw Bambam bracing his elbows on his knees with his head in his hands as he talked to Mina on speaker phone. "Deep breaths baby, it was just a dream, it's not real." Bambam soothed in a tone Jennie had never heard Bambam use before. "He was in the house Bam, I saw him." Mina whimpered.
"No he wasn't. Young-chul is dead Mina, I watched him die with my own eyes. It was a dream gorgeous... just a dream." Bambam's voice was even and calm, but his posture was hunched and tortured as if the sound of Mina crying was physically painful to him.
Lisa had told Jennie what happened to Mina - how she had been kidnapped and tortured and would have died if Bambam and the team hadn't gotten to her in time. Jennie had to assume Young-chul was one of the culprits and that Mina was having some sort of flashback or night terror. A high pitched beeping noise sounded through the speakers briefly before Mina's panicked cries. "Oh God someone's coming through the front door Bam." Mina sobbed desperately through the phone, giving in to her panic attack even further. "It's just Jackson, I texted him to come over and check on you."
Jackson must be a member of one of the other teams Lisa was telling me about.
"Jackson?" Mina called out between sobs in the saddest voice Jennie had ever heard.
"Right here sweetie, Bambam said you were having a rough night and I'm here to fix that for you." Jackson's voice could be heard through the phone. Jackson must have taken the phone off speaker and had it up by his ear, because his voice became louder and more clear all of a sudden. "She's in bad shape Bam. I'm gonna stay the rest of the night, if you're cool with it. You care if I lay in the bed with her? I want to help her get to sleep, but I don't have a fucking death wish." Jackson chuckled slightly.
"I don't give a shit. Just please get her to stop crying." Bambam pleaded, running his hand through his hair.
"I'm on it, Boss." Jackson said.
Jennie listened to Bambam and Jackson as they calmed Mina simultaneously, giving her gentle reassurances that Jackson wouldn't let anyone harm her and grounding her in the present instead of letting relive the awful things that had been done to her.
A sleepy Lisa appeared over Jennie's shoulder with a concerned look on her face, wondering what was taking Jennie so long and why she was standing in the hallway. "What's wrong, you feel okay?" Lisa asked, running her hands up and down Jennie's arms. Just as she'd spoken the words, Lisa heard Bambam's voice and shifted her gaze towards the kitchen.
"I think something's wrong with Mina." Jennie said softly. Lisa wrapped her hand around Jennie's and led her into the kitchen, giving Bambam a chin lift just as Bambam was hanging up the phone. "What's going on with Mina, Bam?" Raking his hand down his face, Bambam let out a frustrated sigh before he answered. "Night terror." Bambam said flatly. "Ah shit." Lisa huffed, scratching the back of her head and her shoulders sank. "Want me to get Jackson or Sehun on the phone to go stay with her?" Lisa asked.
"Jackson's already there. He's gonna stay the rest of the night with her and part of the day. Mina's been doing so well lately and hasn't had one of these in a couple weeks... I just can't stand to hear her cry, man, breaks my fucking heart. And I can't get to her. I can't help her from here." Bambam's voice was low and tortured.
"Sounded like you helped her to me, Bam." Lisa said, taking a seat and pulling Jennie into her lap.
"It's not the same as being there." Bambam said, dropping his head to look down at his phone.
Jennie reached across the table and placed her hand gently on top of Bambam's, trying to pull him from his thoughts. Bambam was beating himself up and was overwhelmed with guilt that Mina needed him and he couldn't get to her. It was a side of Bambam that Jennie had never seen before - a sad broken down Bambam whose heart was exposed and vulnerable.
"I bet just hearing your voice made her feel better." Jennie said softly as she watched Bambam's tormented eyes shift up to meet hers. "She told me that on the phone the other day when I asked how she handled being away from you for so long. She said some days she misses you so bad that it makes her heart hurt, but that the instant she hears your voice, it takes all her pain away. That your voice is her favourite sound in the entire world... so I bet when she was scared tonight, hearing your voice brought her comfort."
Bambam was silent for a second or two as he considered what Jennie was saying, letting her words settle into his heart and accepting that while he couldn't physically comfort Mina, he had been able to comfort her with his voice and that was going to have to be enough. Giving her hand a squeeze with his thumb, Bambam tilted one side of his mouth into a small smile of gratitude. "I needed that Jennie." Bambam said with a smile before his bossy nature took over again. "We've kept you up way too long though. It's almost 4:00am and you need to rest up after the night you've had. Tomorrow is going to be eventful to say the least."
"You heard him, Jennie girl. They don't call him Boss for nothing." Lisa said against her ear from behind. Giving Lisa a laugh and Bambam a smile, she nodded knowing that she was right. Election day was going to be an exciting day and she didn't want to feel like shit. Not to mention the fact that she couldn't wait to get in bed with Lisa.
Leaving the blanket and pillow out for Bambam, Jennie turned and followed Lisa to her bed, feeling anticipation building up inside her with every step they took. Side stepping the sleeping men that were scattered around on her floor, Jennie and Lisa crawled into Jennie's bed and settled down under the plush comforter.
Jennie rested her head on Lisa's chest enjoying the skin to skin contact against the side of her cheek. She lightly ran her hand up and down Lisa's chest and abdomen, loving the way Lisa's skin and muscles responded to her touch. Every one of Lisa's muscles jumped and contracted as they came in contact with her soft hand and a trail of goose bumps peppered Lisa's skin in its wake.
"Get some sleep Jennie girl." Lisa whispered, tilting her head down and giving her a kiss on the forehead. Jennie let her body relax against Lisa and let the steady thumping of Lisa's heart lull her to sleep. Her lids became heavy and she felt herself drifting and unwinding with every exhale.
"I love you." Jennie sighed as she blinked one last slow, tired blink.
"Say it again." Lisa said in a slow sleepy voice. Jennie smiled, with her cheek pressing against Lisa's chest.
"I love you Lisa," she hummed happily against Lisa's chest.
"I love you too baby, more than you know" Lisa breathed the words out as if she fell asleep as she said them. And then, just like that, Jennie was home. In a sudden moment of clarity, before sleep overtook her tired body, Jennie realised that she wanted to be with Lisa no matter where that was... and if that meant following Lisa to California, she'd do that. She'd follow Lisa to the ends of the Earth if she had to.
Lisa is the one for me. Lisa is my home.
