The sound of the doorbell goes off as I start to place my food into their containers.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Aahil smooth out his shirt as he gets up. You could tell he was nervous about formally meeting my friends.
He gets the door for me and the soon soul music-filled living room gets overpowered by loud hellos and the screams of excitement. I can't help but smile.
It was like our own small family got together.
" Mila where do you want me to put this?" Anna yells from the front door. I chuckle and put down the black serving spoon to go help.
I tap everyone's should to move forward into my apartment. This hallway is not big enough for all of us to be in.
"Y'all already know the rules take your shoes off!" I take the big pan from Anna already knowing what she brought.
" Is this what I think it is?" I say while carrying it into the kitchen.
"You know it, I'm sure y'all would bite my damn head off if I didn't bring the ham." She says while kicking her heels off.
I don't know what she does to make the ham tastes so good, but man, she follows behind me and places the big jug of sparkling cider in the fridge.
I glance over to the living room and see that Aahil was mingling with Amber's boyfriend. I'm still shocked that she didn't tell us.
"Well, would you look at this?" Georgina says while looking at me. I do a cute little spin already knowing she was talking about my outfit.
"Oh, this old thing psh." She playfully rolls her eyes coming in to hug me.
" Gosh, I missed you guys," I say while letting go. Amber joins me in the kitchen and places her dish on the counter.
"So are you gonna spill the beans now?" Anna says quietly while leaning in. Amber smiles
" I mean there's nothing to spill." She says with a cheeky smirk I playfully push her and she laughs
" Amber we all know that's a damn lie," Anna said while placing her hand on the counter.
"Okay fine, we met at the club like 5 months ago. You know typical one-night stand then when we came back from the girl's trip. We ran into each other while I was walking into work, and we started seeing each other."
As she finishes I look over to the girls and they are just as confused as I am but even though Amber is nosy she's the most secretive person when she wants to be.
To this day I don't understand how that works.
"Hm okay well, you both are cute..." Anna says while clapping her hands. We talk some more mainly catching up. Until I say it's time to eat the food was practically piping hot when everyone came but now it's cooled down to the point where we can eat it.
Most of the food was in the kitchen but some were laid out on the table.
I began to pour out some of the cider in the glasses and I feel a pair of hands wrap around my waist. I look up and see it's Aahil looking down at me.
A smile creeps up on my face and I turn back around.
" I'll get your plate ready after," I say while placing the now-filled glass on the counter just for it to already be taken up.
"Huh?" He says while his hands roam my hips
"The food I'll share your plate after I'm done."
"Habibti, you don't have to do that." A chuckle escapes his mouth. I grab the next glass and start to fill it up. "A woman shouldn't share for others unless it is the old or a child." He kisses my cheek making me look back up
