Chapter 23

The girls woke up to me making breakfast. Pancakes, bacon, eggs and toast. I make milkshakes for Elena and Bonnie and make a blood drink for Caroline. Elizabeth or Liz, Caroline's mother and head of the poilce, thought the blood was dyed strawberry milkshake. She left and the girls came down to eat.

"When did you wake up?" Caroline asked while drinking the blood.

"When Elijah called me and asked if he can call in a favor." I grabbed a pancake and ate it while they all stared at me. "What? It's nothing bad. He just wants to take me somewhere for the day. His witches will keep the town safe the best they can."

"Where does he want to take you?" I stopped eating and looked at Bonnie.

"I uh... I didn't ask. I should do that." I walked off and grabbed my phone. I walked back, called Elijah and waithed for him to pick up.

"Put it on speaker." I listened to Bonnie and put it on speaker and placed my phone down. Elijah answered after a while.

"Isabelle, how are you?" I smiled as I heard his voice.

"I'm ok, Elijah. Just one question, where do you plan on taking me today?"

"Did the girls ask you?" You could just hear the smile going onto his face.

"Yeah they did. They made me realize I should know where you wanna take me." I grabbed my milkshake and drank some as I heard him chuckle.

"To a museum."I could tell that was a lie. He heared the girls make noises of disappointment. "I'm on speaker, my thought was right."

"Is it really a museum, Elijah?" I leaned on the counter with a smile.

"No, it's to a town near by. I wanted to give you a relaxing day after your magic drain." The girls let out some awww's. "I'll be at Elena's soon to get you."

"I'm actually at Caroline's. I'll be home soon though ok?"

"Ok dear, see you soon." I said goodbye and hung up . The girls immediately asked me why he calls me dear and why he was so sweet to me.

"Well, he calls me dear because its gentleman like and the reason he's sweet is because he is my friend." We all ate and got changed. I helped Caroline with her hair and she helped me pick an outfit and done my make up with the help of Bonnie and Elena.

I wore a black hoodie that didn't fully cover my top half, and a black skirt. Caroline gave me a pair of her black heels while Bonnie done my make up. She put natural eyeshadow on but gave me cat like eyeliner. Elena made my hair fluffy by curling. I looked in the mirror and I honestly loved it. I thanked them as we heard a knock at the door.

Caroline walked over and answered but never invited them in. Elena walked over and called me to see who it is. Bonnie walked over before me, I grabbed my bag and my phone and walked over to the door. I smiled at Elijah before stepping outside. He held out a hand for me and I took it before saying bye to the girls

"Be safe you two!" Bonnie shouted as we walked to his car making me and Elijah laugh.

"Text me if anything happens!" Elijah go the door for me so I got in the car. "Thank you."

He went around the car and got in the driver side. We put on our seatbelts and he drove out of Mystic Falls. I watched the scenery as Elijah drove. He put on the radio before speaking.

"So... what was it that snapped?"

"I guess my anger or my need to protect. I don't really know. Caroline was trapped and you could hear her in pain. Stefan was stabbed with a stake in the side and Damon got shot in the shoulder." I looked over at him, he turned to me with worry.

"Did you get hurt?" I smiled softly at his concern and I placed a hand on his.

"One of them tackled me when I found them. But I'm ok, they left me alone after Stefan and Damon came. Don't worry so much, I can handle myself."

"You used to much magic." He moved his hand so I went to move mine but he placed it on the wheel and put his hand over it. "You can really hurt yourself if your alone."

I leaned over and rested my head on his shoulder. He hand waa on my hand, it was uncomfortable to have it stretched so this was the other option. "So where we going?"

"Nowhere specific. There is a field near the town and it's usually deserted. It will help you calm down and regain your strength fully." He stopped the car and got out. Bwfore I couls get out he zoomed to the other side and helped me out before going to the trunk.

He brought out a blanket and a cooler with a picnic basket. I walked over and took the blanket and followed him to the field. We stopped and I placed the blanket down so Elijah could place the cooler and basket down. I sat down and looked up at him.

"Everything alright?"

"I feel like something is off..." I grabbed his hand and pulled him down next to me. "Isabelle, don't you feel it?"

"What I feel is you being stressed." I reached into the cooler and handed him a blood packet. He took it and drank from it quickly. "Look, if something happens I'll act like a damsel in distress and you can be the hero." I smiled while he just looked at me. "Ok, that joke wasn't funny."

"I expected you to say that we should go home." I giggled before grabbing a snack from the basket.

"Why? We're hanging out and it's relaxing." I ate the sandwich, it was a pb and j.

"Because I was nice at first thwn tried to get Elena then told you and her the plan. I didn't-" I got pulled away as a stake got shot through his shoulder.

"Elijah!" I looked at who pulled me, it was a witch, someone that could tell I was one. I struggled against their grip, soon I got released and ran over to Elijah.

I took the stake out his shoulder and he pushed me to the ground as he got up. He went to attack the witch but fell in pain. I grabbed a hold of the stake and threw it at the witch, It only hit him not killing but it was a good distraction.

I pushed him to the ground before looking in their eyes. Compulsion. I kept them pinned down and looked around, no vampire in sight. Soon I got flung off them and my back hit a tree. I fell to the ground, barely awake I looked over at Elijah and the witch to see a vampire near them. I used my wind to help me get over to them.

I stared at the vampire and made them double over in pain. Elijah grabbed the stake and delt with them, the witch came to and backed away. Elijah compelled them to forget and they left. I couldn't keep myself up for any long, I let out a exhausted breath before falling. I was caught by Elijah and brought to the car.

After I was in the car he ran to get the blankets, cooler and basket before coming back. I closed my eyes for what felt like a second and seen we were at the hospital when I opened them. I was in Elijah's arms but that soon turned to a stretcher and I was taken into a room. I closed my eyes and this time they stayed closed.
