Part 41: The Baby is Coming!

"Someone really wants to come out." Lex commented when he felt the baby kick his hand one night while watching a program. It was June the 13th.

"Yeah, he does." Brooklyn grunted. "So do I."

"Are you nervous about giving birth?" Lex asked.

"Of course, but I really need him out of my stomach." Brook replied. "Ugh!"

Lex knew his brother was uncomfortable. He noticed Brooklyn's breathing was harder and faster. "Are you alright?" he asked.

"Oh, just my back. He wants to pass into my pelvis, but he can't. I can feel him down there though." Brook complained.

"Have you and Elaine gotten really close?" Lex asked.

"Yeah."

"Have you, uh, you know?"

"No. Oh, I can't... in this condition anyway... oh!" Brooklyn moaned.

Lexington was getting really concerned about his brother, what was left of the pregnancy was doing to him. He could tell he was in pain. If the enemy known as Ray would have impregnated Brooklyn with more than one baby, he would be in even more pain. Gargoyles were only meant to have one baby at a time, usually in an egg no less. But males weren't meant to carry and not for this long; ten months. It was getting close to a year since Brooklyn had been captured and impregnated.

"Brooklyn, are you feeling anything strange right now?" Lex asked worriedly.

"I'm fine, Lex. The usual growing pains." Brook reassured him.

"You're sure?"

"Yes."

Lex didn't want to leave Xanadu now until it was time to fly Brooklyn home again. It was at least a three-hour flight by chopper.

Brooklyn began to feel more pains coming on in the next couple days inside his belly. He found himself rubbing it more. His back was also hurting more too. His ankles swelled a lot too. He didn't feel like eating much with all the weight pushing against his organs, but he would eat small meals here and there.

Lex and Elaine kept offering him food. There were so many times that he declined the food. What was going on with him? He was growing concerned about the baby. He definitely couldn't lean over to pick something up either if he dropped something.

Pains began to pick up inside Brooklyn's stomach even more. He went out to get himself a drink of water from the fridge. He got a glass and filled it. He put the pitcher back in and when he went to lift the glass to his mouth for a drink, he felt deep pain inside his gut.

"OHHHH! OWWW!" Brooklyn cried out and dropped his glass, splattering water all over the floor. He ended up grabbing his stomach with his right hand and grasped the counter with his left, his talons beginning to dig into it.

Lex and Elaine came running into the kitchen when they heard the crash and Brooklyn's cry of pain. They saw the red male trying to maintain his feet, but he was fast sinking to the ground. He was desperately trying to breathe. His teeth were bared in pain and his eyes closed. The end of his beak puckered, breathing hard.

"Brooklyn, what's wrong?!" Elaine rushed to him. Lex also came over.

"Oh! The baby... UGH!" Brooklyn gasped. "My stomach! AAGH!"

"We need to get him back home, Lex." Elaine exclaimed. "I think he went into labor. I didn't know that was possible."

"I didn't either. Yes. After this passes, we'll get you back to the castle, Brooklyn." Lex determined.
