When sunset came, all the gargoyles woke up like they usually did. Brooklyn looked around for Kaska, then he saw him in the bassinet next to the bed. He sat up to look in the bed. His son was still stone. For a moment, he was worried that his son might have died, then there was a cracking from the baby. The eyes lit up a bright white like his and the stone skin came flying off the little gargoyle. He had let out a little growl equivalent of his age.
Brooklyn smiled. So, his son did know what to do. He took him out of the bassinet and held him. He hugged him to his chest.
"I was worried for a moment there, Son. I didn't know if you knew how to shed your stone skin." Brooklyn kissed him. He looked around and didn't see Elaine. She might have been busy elsewhere. He couldn't wait to see her, wherever she was.
Brooklyn then began the move of making himself get out of bed. He felt a little weaker and sore in his stomach. He looked down at it, but there were no stitches to remove. His belly was also still bigger too, but it was just baggy skin now. He would have to get used to not feeling movement inside his belly. His back even felt relieved now that the weight had been taken out of him too.
The clan then came in to see how he was doing. "How ye feeling tonight, Lad?" Hudson asked.
"I feel a bit tired, but better." Brooklyn replied.
"And how's Kaska?" Angela asked.
"I was concerned, but he managed to break his way out of his stone shell." Brooklyn replied. "He gave off the cutest little growl like his own little roar."
"He won't be able to roar until he's much older. But it's good he knows now what to do." Goliath declared. "Where's Elaine?"
"I don't know. I woke up and she's not here." Brook said.
"She's at her apartment, looking after her affairs." David came into the room to see the new baby on his second night of life, but first night to have awoken from stone sleep in the outside world. "She'll be here later tonight."
"Okay." Brooklyn stated. "I wish I could be with her to help her with that."
"She's going to be moving in here with you. She's being evicted from her apartment from having been gone for so long." David admitted.
The clan were sad to hear that, but happy at the same time. Elaine had earned their trust. If there was nowhere else for her to go in this city, she was more than welcome to stay with them.
"I want to give Kaska a tour of the castle." Brooklyn said.
The clan laughed at that. "I don't think he's going to care much for that, Brooklyn. He'll just want to be with you." Angela smiled.
"Why don't you take him to your room?" Broadway suggested. "So, he knows where he's going to take his naps."
"Yeah, that's the most important place for him to know about." Lex added.
Goliath got what the younger ones were doing. They wanted the red Second to go find out about the surprise they had for him in there. "Go on, Brooklyn. We will wait for Elaine to arrive before we have breakfast." He urged.
"Alright." Brooklyn replied tentatively. He pushed himself off the medic bed and left the infirmary. The clan left there too.
Brooklyn went to the area where the rooms were, and he went into his bedroom. His clan had seemed to be talking weird to him. He still wanted to take Kaska on a tour of the castle, but there would be plenty of time for that later.
He opened the door and entered to his room and turned the light on. The sight that greeted him was not how he had left it before. This was the first time he was seeing his room since before he left for Xanadu. His eyes were so big they just about popped out of his head.
