Chapter 10

I slowly opened my eyes. Everything was blurry for a moment. I heard mumbles, lots of mumbles. I felt myself on a mattress and a blanket covering my body. After a while, everything got in motion. "Brynn? Are you okay?", I find a familiar face looking down me, but it wasn't moms. It was a a man's face. The man had a smoothly shaved face and had brown hair. His eyes were big and bold, but they were brown unlike mine.

It was dad.

"Daddy...?", I tried to speak but it was really hard.

"Oh honey! I, glad your okay!", dad held my hand and stroked my hair.

"What happened?

"You blacked out in the middle of the road. A car was coming and a boy saved you."

Wait, what? I tried to recall what had happened. Simon rescued me?! Oh crap..

"Dad, where is he?!", I tried to get up from bed but I was still dazed.

Dad pushed me down softly. "Woah, easy now Brynn. Your friend is okay. He had to carry you over here. You fractured your leg though, the nurse said you'll be fine in a couple of weeks."

Simon... his name whirled in my head. "Dad, I have to see Simon. Where is he?"

Dad carried me and placed me on a wheel chair. I was wearing one of those hospital gowns and saw a bandaid wrapped around my leg. He wheeled me in to a hospital room. I began to get worried. "I'll let you two have some alone time.", Dad left.

I wheeled myself inside the room and shut the door. I went next to the bed Simon was in.

"Simon...?", I felt like crying. I saw he had a blue cast on his left arm. He risked his life to save me. I held his right hand.

"Thanks for saving me. I probably would've died if it wasn't for you."

No words came out of Simon's lips. A tear strolled down my left eye. I held his hand tighter, trying to see if he'd wake up.

"Simon... I know you probably can't hear me but... I love you."

Suddenly, I felt his fingers hold on to mine.
