Chapter 40

6 years later

"Der, can you get Lily out of her car seat? I'll help Willow." Meredith says to her husband. Meredith and Derek have been married for five years and have two daughters, Lily, 6 months old, and Willow, three years old. Meredith worked on getting better and was finally able to get back to her normal life without too much fear or anxiety. It took a while but with Dr Wyatt's help she was successful. Meredith is now a first year attending.

"Mama!" Willow squealed.

"Yeah baby?" Meredith smiles at her daughter.

"Pwincess tea pawty!"

"You want to have a princess tea party?" Meredith smiled.

Willow nods her head excitedly. "Daddy gots to wear the cwown!"

"Ooh I agree. I think he would look nice wearing the crown. What do you think?" Meredith teased, Derek shaking his head chuckling.

"Yeah! Weally good!" Willow laughed.

"Okay, we can do that. Let's go inside first though."

The family makes their way inside and Willow runs to her playroom excitedly.

"Mama! Daddy! Come on! We gots to pway! Baby Lily can pway also!"

"I think Lily might want to just watch us baby. She's still too little to play princess tea party." Meredith says.

"Yeah, she's still a baby! I'm a big girl!" Willow smiles.

"You are a big girl!" Meredith helps Willow set up the tea party.

"Where's Daddy?" Willow frowns.

"He's coming. He's just changing Lily's diaper."

"Ohhhhhh." Willow says.

A few minutes later Derek comes into the playroom holding Lily. "Willow, are you ready for a princess tea party? I'm excited!"

"Yeah!!!!" Willow squeals. "Daddy!"

"Yeah Wils?" He asks.

"You gots to wear your cwown! She runs to her dress up area and picks out a crown. "Wear this one!" She puts the crown on his head.

"I love that crown on your daddy! Great choice baby girl!" Meredith says.

"Tanks Mama!"

They play princess tea party until it's time to have dinner.

"Daddy! You gots to wear cwown to dinner!" She says jumping up and down.

Meredith laughs. "Yeah, I agree with her!"

Derek glares at Meredith but agrees. "Only for you my Willow!"

"Yayyyyy!"

The next morning comes and Meredith and Derek drop the girls off at daycare. Willow spots Sofia already there.

"Mama! Sofia! Sofia's here!" She says happily.

"Why don't you go play with her?" Meredith asks.

"Otay!" Willow gives Meredith a hug around her legs. "Bye Mama!"

"Bye baby girl! Have a fun day and we'll have lunch together later! I love you!" Meredith smiles.

Willow runs off to her friend. Meredith gives Lily a kiss on her head and hands her to the daycare assistant. "Bye Lily! I'll see you later! I love you!"

Meredith and Derek go upstairs and change into scrubs.

Meredith scrubs in on a surgery first thing. She finishes a few hours later. "Thank you Wilson. Great job in there."
