"So this is where we're staying?" I asked looking around in awe as we followed the bell hop to our room. After an almost 13 hour plane ride. We were both a little jet lagged and tired.
When we landed, we were greeted at the airport by an escort who drove us to the hotel. On the way there we looked out at the scenery in amazement. We were on a small island surrounded by the clearest blue ocean water I've ever seen. The airport was located on the main strip of the island along with its stores and markets. When we finally arrived to the hotel, it looked like it was an Arabian prince's palace. The clean white marble floors, huge wide pool that led towards what looked like a lake ,in the main lobby for all to see. All surrounded by white sand and clear blue beaches.
I didn't know anything like this existed, and looking at how spotless everything is in this place, it was extravagant and super expensive, but I was too tired to even think about the price.
"Yeah it is beautiful isn't it?" Ruby said with a smile as she held my hand, looking at the open wide space.
"Here we are 415." The bell hop said with a smile as he stopped at our door.
"Thank you so much." Ruby told him and handed him some money. He nodded in thanks before walking away. Ruby slid the key card and opened the door. I was about to walk in when Ruby's hand on my wrist stopped me."Wait..." she said looking down at me with a serious look on her face, that made me worry.
"What's wrong?" I asked worried and she reached up to cup my cheek.
"Just stay still for a second ok, and close your eyes." She told me and I raised my eyebrow curiously.
"Please love." She said softly. I sighed and closed my eyes. A second later, I felt the ground disappear from under me. I yelped in surprise, clutching my arms around her neck. She chuckled and I realized her arms were what was holding me up.
"You should have seen your face. Adorable." She started laughing again and I squinted at her suspiciously.
"Glad you think this is funny." I say and she pecked my lips.
"I'm sorry for laughing, but this is one of the traditional things newlyweds do."
"I see." I say and she kissed me again , bringing a smile to my face.
"You ready?" she asked me and I smiled.
"Ready."
She stepped over the threshold and I flipped on the switch on the wall. We looked around in awe again as she sat me down gently back on my feet. The living area was decorated in a light island Caribbean style with a flat screen tv. I opened a sliding door to reveal a queen size bed with light blue bed covers and pillows. On the left side there is a sliding glass door with a view of the beach, which made me gasp at the stars shown bright and clear in the sky. I walked up to it in a daze. They were so clear and bright here with out the city lights obscuring them, they shined bright with all their brilliance.
"I brought our bags in so we can get changed." Ruby stated from behind me and I looked at her with a happy smile.
"Ruby come see." I said beckoning my wife to join me. She walked up to me and wrapped her arms around my waist from behind.
I leaned back against her and looked up at the stars with a contented smile.
"Aren't they beautiful." I said looking at the sky.
