I'm officially a mom now. I couldn't help thinking to myself as I looked at my daughter and son in my wife's arms. The pain of childbirth was like nothing I had ever experienced before, but after looking at their small, innocent faces; I have to say it was worth it and I would do it all over again just to have them. All the nervous energy and unease I had vanished the moment I heard their cries. I loved them now just as much as I loved their mother.
"He weighs about 5lb 9oz. He was much easier to take care of then his sister. It was like she was trying to fight me with her little hands." Taiki joked laughing as she sat on the edge of the bed.
Ruby laughed and looked up at her. "She's a tough little girl then." She joked and leaned over to kiss our baby girl's forehead. Taiki looked at me. "Tough like both her moms." She said and winked at me. Her eyes showing proudness and I smiled in return. Amy then came out the bathroom with gloves and a small kit , saying she was going to clean me up and warned that I would feel a little sore.
There was a knock and Yaten stook her head in ,looking at us shyly. "Can I come in?" She asked and Ruby gave her permission.
She walked over to the bed and when she saw the twins ,her eyes went all teary and wide. Kind of similar to how she looked at cats when she saw them.
She looked over at each baby and touched her finger to their hands, which they immediately curled their small fingers around and she gave them a small relaxed smile.
"And she's a goner." I joked ,smirking at my sister and Ruby and Taiki laughed.
"Shut up." Yaten replied with a smile still plastered on her face as she continued to look at them. "What's their names?" She asked after a minute.
"Crap we never did settle on a name we liked." Ruby said looking to me wide eyed. Her expression looked so funny that I laughed.
"Well actually I have two names I thought of while you was gone. I'm just not sure if their good." I replied rubbing my eyes. After hours of labor and childbirth I was getting tired.
"Really? What are they?" Ruby asked curiously.
"Well for her I thought of Briar. Briar Rose." I said and felt my cheeks turn red as I looked back at my baby to avoid their eyes.
"Briar?" Ruby repeated, sounding unsure.
"Briar was the daughter of sleeping beauty. It also translates as prickly thorn. Since she's your daughter-" I say looking at my wife. "It means she's tough like a Rose..." I explained trailing off, my cheeks burning even more red now after my explanation. The name all of a suddenly sounded stupid.
"Hmmm Briar Rose.... I kinda like it." I heard Ruby say and looked up at her.
"I agree. It's kinda unique like her." Yaten said.
"I think that's a beautiful name." Amy complimented as she finished her work, and Taiki nodded.
"Okay so that's her name, Baby Briar." Ruby said looking at me , smiling and I blushed again.
