"Why do you want me to join you?"

"Dahil matalino ka." It took me a bat of an eye to answer Villareal. He was gone for two weeks due to a health disturbance. After the midterms, ngayon ko na lang siya ulit nakita.

"Matutulungan mo 'ko at matutulungan kita. We excel in different subjects; we are perpendicular lines that are not parallel to each other most of the time, but at some point, we'll intersect. For sure, we share common knowledge, interests, and ideas. Magiging madali ang research kapag naging magka-partner tayo."

To explain to him why he need to accept my invitation wasn't part of the plan.

The whole section of HUMSS 11-D is watching me ask another person to join my company.

"Is it not because you have no choice?" He smiled.

For a certain reason, I shook my head. Research is not a joke. I take all my research subjects during STE days in Junior High School seriously. I've had enough when it comes to uncooperative groupmates. I think I've known what I deserve.

Buhat ko na ang mundo sa rami ng problema ko, the last thing I wanted to do was to lift other people while they are dragging me down.

"Wala akong pinatulan sa mga kaklase ko dahil hinihintay kitang pumasok. I didn't want to send you a message because I want to ask you personally."

He nodded. This guy is another heartthrob. Villareal has soft features, like that of a tamed sheep. Suarez looks more mature and intimidating.

Aside from their opposing features, may tsismis tungkol sa kanila. Ayon sa sabi-sabi, magkaibigan sila noon. I don't know their history but I never saw them hanging out together.

"I heard you asked Rad," he brought up. The crowd turned into crows.

"Oo. Pero hindi siya pumayag. That was a blessing in disguise, I guess."

"And you kissed him for a yes," he added.

Kalat na ang nangyayari. I wasn't surprised. That's something that would easily disperse in an environment where gossips feed people.

"So ano? Gusto mo ba maging partner ko?" Hindi tanong ang huli niyang sinabi kaya hindi ko sinagot.

"Walang halik?" He chuckled.

"Gusto mo ba?"

"You're funny, Ammy. I was just kidding."

"Hindi ako nagbibiro," I said in a boiled voice.

"You don't have to try. You're funny as you are." He chuckled again.

Even his laugh was soft and endearing to the ears.

"I think I am fine with you. Considering the effort to wait for me, I will feel bad if I say no."

He wrote his name and signed it. Kinakantiyawan ako ni Santos at Lumbre.

"May favoritism ka, Ammy."

"Last week pa kita niyayayang maging partner, ayaw mo. Kaya pala, gusto mo sa mga top."

"Bottom ka kasi, dude."
