WITH A TIRED SIGH, YOU WALKED INSIDE THE MCCALL RESIDENCE WHILE CARRYING YOUR SLEEPING CHILD. you moved in with melissa and her teenage son a few years back, when you found out you were pregnant and your parents wanted nothing to do with you. you worked with her son, scott, at the animal clinic so after he spoke with his mom about your situation, she took you in with open arms.
your parents wanting nothing to do with you was something you were used to so you weren't at all much surprised when they kicked you out. and you were incredibly thankful for someone as caring as melissa to have in your life. especially when her and scott were there for you every step of the way. you considered them to be your only family. and it always brought warmth to you how much they loved your three year old daughter, raelyn. melissa because the grandma figure to her and scott became her uncle, along with his best friend stiles who never failed to make your daughter laugh.
whenever you had a shift at the animal clinic, scott and stiles were there to watch over her. you didn't have to worry considering they were extremely protective of her, despite stiles's hyperactive personality. you knew they wouldn't let anything happen to her and always watched her at home unless she somehow guilt tripped them into taking her for ice cream.
your daughter is your entire world and she brought you so much love and joy after a hard time in your life. your only love and the father of your child, derek hale, ended up moving all the way to new york after losing most of his family in a house fire. you guys practically grew up together being each other's best friend. the two of you were so close you could tell each other everything and anything. though the older you both became, it was hard for you to tell him certain things because of how protective he was. he'd get himself worked up over the smallest things and you were the only one able to get him to relax.
when the two of you were eighteen, derek had imprinted on you without realizing it on the night of the full moon. you didn't know what any of it meant, other than the fact derek's wolf staked a claim on you and only ever wanted and needed you. not that you minded much. derek was someone who will forever have your heart no matter what. and everything was perfect until the house fire that killed most of derek's family. you knew his uncle, his sister, and he made it out alive. though his uncle was barely alive years later.
after that night, derek and his sister stayed in beacon hills for a week. derek tried so hard to convince to come with him and laura to new york. to leave all of this behind and get the hell out. but you couldn't. you couldn't just pack up and leave everything behind, including your job. you needed the money and as much as derek fought to take care of you, you still couldn't.
