BEING A FATHER HAS BEEN THE MOST AMAZING THING FOR DEREK. despite only knowing he had a daughter a few months ago, he fell into the whole father roll really well. he absolutely loved being a father and having such a strong bond with his daughter. so getting you back as well as building a close relationship with his daughter, made him feel such peace and love he hadn't felt in such a long time.
now that christmas was right around the corner, he was incredibly excited for the holiday. he couldn't wait to spoil both you and your daughter. the thing he was most looking forward to though was getting to snuggle with the two of you under a few blankets with christmas movies playing.
so today he had planned for you guys to decorate the christmas tree sitting in the corning of the living room by the window. then he was going to put on a christmas movie so you all could cozy together. he was a bit antsy for you two to come home. he hated having to wait when he was dying to scoop his daughter up in his arms.
as if on cue raelyn came running inside excitedly, squealing when she leaped onto derek's lap. "daddy!" she giggled when he wrapped his large arms around her tiny body, his lips littering kisses all over her face.
"hi my pup. did you have a good day at school?" he asked, beaming down at his daughter who nodded her head.
"it was good! i got to color and play outside today!" she told him, leaning up to him and bumping her nose with his, a habit of theirs they often shared as a sign of affection.
you entered the house a minute after raelyn went barging inside looking for derek. you smiled lovingly at the sight of them two on the couch, her going on and on about her day to him. and what made your heart burst with love is him staring at her and taking in every thing she was telling him. the look on his face screamed how precious she was to him.
you put away her backpack in the closet and kicked off your shoes before pulling off your jacket. walking into the living room, you sat down beside derek who leaned over and gave you a quick kiss.
"i have two fun things planned for us today." derek told the two of you making raelyn light up with excitement. "since christmas is coming fast, we're going to decorate the tree and watch christmas movies after."
