ONE OF THE MOST PAINFUL EXPERIENCES WOULD BE THE ONES WHERE YOU'RE ALWAYS STUCK IN THAT IN BETWEEN WITH SOMEONE, AND NEVER MORE. the one where the connection is so deep, so blindingly perfect and beautiful that its just right. the one where the stars seem aligned with one star just unfortunately out of place. that one star in between, leaving all the others to circle around each other relentlessly. the unfortunate mishap keeping everything from molding together.
your heart beats calmly and slowly as you lay in the arms of derek, your head resting on top of his chest. the sound of every beat of his heart encased you in such a state of tranquility. the gentle touch of his fingers moving up and down your back under your shirt, brought intense warmth to you.
you were safe. you were at complete utter peace with him.
he knew you better than you knew yourself. he was the only person to ever taken the time to really get to know you. so willingly he wanted to know who you are. the more time you two spent together, the closer you grew together. forming such an intimate trust and understanding of one another. he knew your deepest secrets and fears just like you knew his.
surely did you become his safe haven. in a world that became dark for him, haunted by the trauma that followed him for years, brightened when you entered his life. he learned with you it was okay to collapsed and be vulnerable after being guarded for so long. that it was okay to show feelings regardless if he understood them or not. but most of all, he learned to feel the rawness of unconditional love.
but sometimes he was selfish when it came to you.
he didn't want to share you with anyone. he didn't want you to care about anyone else the way you cared for him. he didn't like when your attention when on someone else. and part of him hated whenever you weren't with him.
it took a lot of reassurance for him to see nothing would get in the way of the special connection between you two. though it was tricky, he'd gotten more relaxed when it came to you. but still underneath all of that, was a feeling so deep in his gut that he refused to admit.
