YOU AND DEREK HAD A RATHER COMPLICATED RELATIONSHIP TO SAY THE LEAST. neither of you necessarily liked each other that much. he purposely, and very frequently, got on your nerves knowing how easily it was to tick you off. especially since he knew just the right way to do so. he felt some sort of satisfaction every time he made you rather annoyed, but he enjoyed it even more when you gave it right back to him.
it was such normal behavior for the two of you to never get along or attempt to be civil. in fact, majority of the pack tried many and many times to get the two of you to get along. their attempts had all been failed as you and derek would always find something to fight about. your group of friends at first hated the two of you being in the same room but eventually grown accustomed to it. it's in fact such normal behavior for them, if a stranger were to witness the interactions of you and derek, they would think you were utterly insane.
stiles, being the spaz he is, absolutely got a kick out of the fights. he was glad to finally have someone share his dislike toward derek, even though it wasn't nearly as bad as you had for the alpha. most times he would cheer you on as you put the arrogant bastard in his place. the teen admired you for being tough enough to trash him to his face.
the one thing that did seem to catch someone's eyes was the fact neither you or derek were keen on someone else talking poorly about another. especially derek. it didn't matter what the person was saying, you guys did not enjoy someone else talking badly about each other. and this all came to light when derek left stiles with a bruised cheek when the teen accidentally said something out of context around him.
the fact the alpha, who you were so sure hated you as much as you hated him, was the first one to jump to defend your honor was rather questionable. that's when lydia began putting the pieces together and being the insanely smart girl she is, figured out beneath all the hate was two people in love with each other but unaware of it. but she knew for sure derek had feelings for you when he got all worked up over you going out with a guy.
luckily for him, you didn't have any interest in seeing the guy again after the date. it wasn't anything to bad only the fact you guys didn't click very well. though derek knew it was only a matter of time until another guy would ask you out. strangely enough to him, the thought of that always seemed to be a feeling that nagged him in all the wrong ways.
