HARMONY WAS ON CLOUD NINE WHEN SHE WOKE UP THE NEXT MORNING. her date with derek couldn't have gone better. she enjoyed spending time with him and getting to know him more. she found him so incredibly endearing and she wanted to spend more and more time with him. the charm he had made him all the more irresistible. it was almost scary how alluring he was. but nevertheless, she was excited to see where things would go.
however she wasn't going to be getting any hopes up. this was the first time in a while she let herself go out with a guy. the last thing she had with a guy didn't end very well. he made her feel so insecure with herself and like she couldn't do anything without his approval. he made it seem like she had to rely on him for everything. so when things ended between them, she told herself to always stay away from guys and that she didn't need anyone other than herself. that she was better off on her own.
as much as she wanted to see derek again today, she didn't want to seem too eager. she also wanted to feel like he also wanted to see and know her as much as she wanted to. and she also needed to work in the office today so majority of her day would be spent there. not that she minded much though. she loved her job as a lawyer and often found it peaceful to work in the office chambers with her fellow co workers.
she was just walking out her door and staring down at the files in her hand when she bumped into derek. a few papers dropped to the ground causing her to curse under her breath.
"i'm sorry, i didn't mean to bump into you." she chuckled nervously, bending down to pick up the papers with the help of derek.
"no worries it's okay. whenever it's you, i don't mind." he flirted cussing her to blush and stand back up. he stood with her while handing her some of the papers that fell. "are you heading to work?"
she nodded, pushing a fallen strand of hair behind her ear. "yeah. today is one of the days i can't work from home. duties of being a lawyer."
"a lawyer, huh? for someone as sweet and innocent as you?" he teased, lips curling into a flirtatious smirk causing her eyes to sparkle at the sight.
"i'm tougher than i look. guess one of these nights you'll have to indulge in a debate with me." she bit back with a wide beaming smile.
