DEREK WAS SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER GOTTEN SICK AS HIS WOLF POWERS MADE HIM PRACTICALLY BULLETPROOF FROM EVERYTHING. but after a battle in the supernatural world with the pack, derek was left weakened and his wolf powers began diminishing. for some reason he was slowly becoming human and it was quite concerning to the two of you. there wasn't much you could do so all you've been doing is being there for derek and helping him as much as you could.
he was more gutted about it over the fact it left him at a disadvantage when it came to keeping you safe and protected. he felt he wouldn't be able to fully protect you if anything were to happen. you often had to reassure him everything was going to be okay and nothing would happen to you. you could see he was getting too entrapped in his thoughts, often thinking he wasn't good enough anymore.
it hurt you to see him like this. you wished there was something you could do to take away his pain but it wasn't that simple. it was something he needed to get accustomed to on his own and learn to deal with it for himself. it was just going to take quite some time for him to get used to it.
because derek never got sick, you never had to worry about taking care of him in that manner. the only thing you ever really had to do was clean him up and help him whenever he was severely injured when it came to helping the pack. other than that, you never experienced a sick derek until now.
since he was becoming human, this meant dealing with things that came with being normal in a sense. unfortunately he came down with the stomach bug last night which made a completely vulnerable, and pitiful derek. of course he didn't know what to do as he never got sick. this was where you stepped in to take care of him.
you weren't sure what to expect from a sick derek. the first few hours he was very cranky and pushed you away from him as he didn't want you getting sick. you ignored his protests by comforting him and making sure he was staying hydrated with the bug. he couldn't seem to keep any food down but he was able to at least have water.
though once you began nurturing him and taking care of him, he started getting clingy and refused to let you leave his side even if it was for a minute. he would almost panic in a way if you were to go into another room. this was a side of him you never knew even existed. sick derek meant he was insanely pouty, pitiful, and quite clingy.
