CHAPTER 12

Yeji insisted that she should start coming to the company again. To make sure her safety, her father sent some guards to keep an eye on her. at least she can feel safer now.

"yeah, you don't have to come. My office is guarded." Yeji spoke to Ryu through the phone.

"I have no schedules today. I'll come by."

Ryu is still chilling at his office. After checking the trainees and the models, he has nothing to do anymore. Everything is well managed since the CEO of this agency is highly competent. He can really focus on other things at this point.

"just meet me at home."

"you sure?" Ryu asked. "I can pick you up."

"I'm fine, Ryu. We can meet at home. You'll wait too long if you come now."

"okay. I'm still gonna go there."

Just like Yeji said, Ryu has to wait for Yeji at her office. He's not bored, though. He can read some magazines, looking at Yeji, make some coffee, then look at Yeji some more.

"alright. That's done and I'm gonna chill a little." Yeji stretched her body and leaned back on her chair. "are you sure you don't have any schedules?"

"yeah. Why?"

"I don't know. I feel like you set those aside to be with me." Yeji smiles a little. her confidence made her flattered at her own words.

"I hope I can say that. until now, I haven't done that. that's why I told you if I had time, I will see you."

"understandable." Yeji sighs.

After some minutes chatting, one of the guards enters the office.

"excuse me, ma'am, sir. I got a report that reporters are waiting for you downstairs. Some asked about the sudden changing hands of Mr. Lee's company under Mr. Hwang." The guard explained.

"what?" Yeji is confused. She knows nothing about that.

"wait he hasn't told you?" Ryu thought that Hyunbin had already talked about this with Yeji.

"you know?" Yeji furrowed her eyebrows, looking at Ryu.

Ryu immediately calls Wonpil to prepare the car.

"I'll tell you later. Let's go before it gets more crowded." Ryu stands up.

The two and the guards finally down at the lobby. The guards try their best to protect the two. Ryu put on his sunglasses.

"any personal reason for that to happen?"

"do you have any connection with lee Minho?"

"there are dating rumors spreading about you and Mr. Lee. Is that true? Was that the reason?"

This is dangerous for Yeji. Not only for her safety, but also her mental health. Especially when they brought up about Minho. Ryu knows very well that he'll be dragged into this whether he wants it or not because he's here right now.

Ryu wraps his arm around Yeji, securing her so they can walk faster out of this crowd. Yeji looks up at him. the way he embraces her made her think that there will be nothing that can hurt her.

Once they escaped the reporters, they quickly goes into the car.

"are you okay?" Ryu takes off his glasses. "I'm sorry I grabbed you like that."

"I'm totally okay. Thank you." Yeji looks down. "I need to talk to dad. is this about Minho?"

"yes. It's better to have your dad speaks to you personally." Ryu keeps his eyes on her.

Arriving at the mansion, Yeji asked the maid to call her father. Soon, the three gathered on the living room.

"I was surrounded by reporters, asking things I don't even know. do you even think about my feelings?" Yeji asked sternly.

"I do think about you, about us as a family. If he wants me to keep this incident, I have to take something from him to make up for it." Hyunbin replied to her.

"but look. How can I get away with all those questions? They're wondering why, looking for any news. What am I supposed to say? It's obvious that something happened between us and Lees."

"you shouldn't make assumptions that they know, dear. We'll make sure that the news won't spread." Hyunbin looks at Ryu. "right, son?"

"absolutely, sir." Ryu nodded.

"thank you for helping us. you don't know how much this incident is affecting our family." Hyunbin smiles at him. "do you perhaps need me to pay for it? The cost of the investigations and the teams?"

"oh, no need, sir. I already took care of everything. I'm just glad that things are getting better now." Ryu refused.

"I'm serious. there's no way you would do all these without wanting something."

"excuse me?" Ryu furrowed his eyebrows.

"I get that you wanna marry my daughter. That must be the reason you're willing to sacrifice a lot for our family, helping with the case, and all. you can be honest." Hyunbin purses his lips.

"you must've taken this the wrong way, sir. I have no other intention other than helping Yeji."

"Is that so?" Hyunbin raised an eyebrow, rubbing his chin. "I'm keeping my eyes on you, kid. If you need anything in the future, I will help you. but, I can't tolerate any backstabbing."

Ryu feels a little odd at his behaviour. He does appreciate Ryu's help but somehow doubting him. Ryu can only understand that. maybe they've been through some bad times when trusting someone.

"I can assure you that won't happen, sir." Ryu gives him a small smile.

"so, here's what I'll do." Hyunbin starts again. "we will have a lot of backups. If he dares to bother Yeji again, feel free to use that evidence to blackmail him. I'll allow that." Hyunbin looks at Ryu.

"I don't think that's ideal, sir. The only reason that we should use this case against him is when Yeji is ready. The backlash that we'll receive will be affecting us even worse. Though I'm sure that some will give support, some will be against us for using it that way." Ryu explained his thoughts.

"don't worry, Ryu. If it's for the best, I'll be ready." Yeji sighs.

The pressure is starting to get into her. she knows that sooner or later the case will unveil itself. Not to mention the aggressive reporters and paparazzi that might follow her and Ryu. Ryu is still a public figure after all. there's no guarantee that he'll escape from them.

"see? she's fine with it. Since you're already deep into this, might as well you protect her too. I'm trusting you with her. don't make me regret it."

"I'll try to give my best, sir. Thank you."
