April sauntered down the bright, tranquil streets of Manhattan. During this time of year, New York was unusually warm, and April would often wear her signature yellow jacket, accompanied with the matching her hairband. Despite the lovely weather, it didn't seem to lighten her mood. It had been three days since the whole...scene she witnessed and she had been traumatised ever since. She, and only she knew the selfish, impulsive, self-pitying bitch that really was Dakota Brookes, and as much as she wanted the rest of the world to know, she couldn't. Yes, Dee betrayed her first, but good was it betraying her best friend's best friend? Well, it's not like April's motives were selfish, she was just looking out for her best friend, and the turtles. They were like her family. But she knew she had to keep quiet, for the meantime anyway. She was about to turn round the corner, reaching the sewers until she spotted Casey and Raphael talking by the dumpsters. She moved her head closer, but wasn't visible, so she could listen in.
'So, have you made a choice?' Casey questioned, his voice for once serious. Raph nodded, sighing.
'Well, I'm going to stay with Mona. I mean, I love her man, well at least I'm sure I do. Dakota is a seriously great girl, but think of what shit would happen if we did get together.' This made Casey curious. He slowly sat down on the bench behind him, slouching. April gasped, moving her head back.
'So, you regret sleeping with Dee?'
Raph was hesitant to answer this. He opened his mouth, but no words came out.
'Sleeping with her drunk, yeah that was a mistake, but I couldn't say the second time I regretted it.' He mumbled. April covered her mouth in shock when she heard this.
What a bastard.
'Look, all I know is that I want to be with Mona. Final.' Casey shot up from his seat, giving his red masked friend a pat on the back.
He moved the sewer lid to the side, jumping in, followed by Raph.
April waited a while, before she went in herself.
She walked in, geeting everyone, but when she saw Dakota she rolled her eyes. Mikey looked around the room and cackled.
'This is totes awkward yo.' He hollered. Casey sat on the couch beside her, shooting him a look.
'Ya don't say.' He gumbled. April scoffed, and noticed that Donnie wasn't here, meaning he must have been in his lab. She quickly walked to the lab, closing the door firmly behind her. Everyone turned to the lab door, curious.
Mikey put Casey into a headlock, laughing viciously.
'Looks like Donnie and April are about to get down and dirty, but you know, they do have great chemistry right?' He ended up cracking up at his own Jokes, Leo Raph laughing along with him. Dakota sat there awkwardly, avoiding conversation.
'Donnie.' April exclaimed. Donnie squealed dropping a test tube onto the April. He turned to see April stanoat the door. Omigod, they were alone. He had waited for this moment his whole life. He began to blush wildly. He moved away from his work, leaning his arm against the wall.
'Ssss-sup.' April, rolled her eyes, grinning.
'Stop playing. This is serious.' She went closer to him, putting her arms on his shoulders, squeezing tightly.
'You cannot tell anyone. I mean it. Promise me?'
'I promise.' He responded, his excitement showing vaguely.
'Raph cheated on Mona, with Dakota.' Donnie's mouth dropped. He was lost for words.
'And I don't know what to do.' Her baby blue eyes were wide, the lost making her eyes brighten.
'You need to confront Dakota about it, making sure this never happens again. How could they betray her like that?' His voice grew louder. April shushed him, releasing her grip of his shoulders.
'Well, she is a self-centred bitch. And I just couldn't keep it in, I needed to tell someone. Thanks Donnie for listening.' She hugged him briefly, before leaving the room. She sat down with Leo,
'What was that about?' He asked, curiously. April simply shook her head, Leo automatically knowing she was saying.
Dakota got up to go in the kitchen, and April followed after her. Dee ran a hand through her auburn hair, checking the fridge. April leaned against the counter, her eyes moving around the room.
'So, how are you?' April asked, not honestly bothered with Dee's mood.
'Why are you talking to me?' Dakota retorted, moving her body around the face her. April groaned, sitting up straight, going over to her.
'Let's cut the crap. I know, you've been sleeping with Raph.' Her voice was dark and harsh when she said this, and her facial expression also darkened. Shit. Dee swallowed hard.
'I-'
'Save it.' April interuppted.
'I knew you were trouble, but who would have thought even you, would be capable of such a horrible thing to do to a person. I don't know if you noticed, but in that room, is my family. The people that have been there for me for god knows how long. And Mona, sweet, INNOCENT Mona. The girl that let you live with her after your mum kicked you out, the same girl that set you up with Brian Brent, someone who was convinced you were a lesbian in 6th grade. So don't think for a second that I will let you mess up everything because of your sexually ambiguous ways, because news flash! Not everything is about you.' Dee, looked at the ground, the guilt and shame finally struck her. Hard.
'Are you gonna tell her?' She muttered, her voice barely a whisper.
'Lucky for you, I won't, because unlike you, I don't plan on ruining Mona's self confidence and respect for herself because you're that selfish. And erm, piece of advice, I would try breaking up this whole affair before he does just so you don't have to face the harsh reality on how you were basically Raph's Anastasia and that he's better than sleeping around with a skanky alcoholic who drowns her sorrows in vodka and condoms.' April smiled before leaving her in the kitchen.
Dee, samk against the wall. April's words sunk deep into her memory. Skank. She buried her head in her arms, feeling a flood of tears appear but she sucked them up. She tried to forget everything, and walked out. She waved a quick bye to everyone, not looking at Raphael once, before running out.
Mona had walked in arching an eyebrow at Dakota. Eh. They'll talk soon enough. She stood there, smiling at everyone innocently. She was about to sit down, until she felt an arm round hers.
'Can we talk?' Raph mumbled, loud enough for only Mona to hear. They haven't spoken to each other since that night, and according to them 2 hours of not speaking is equivalent to a day, so 3 days is like what?
Mona nodded, and they wandered off into his room. Leo looked up to watch the couple leave the group, rolling his eyes. Ugh, Mona is better than that.
April noticed this sense of jealousy from Leo, playfully hitting him on the shoulder, smirking. Leo just laughed.
Mona leaned against the door, already looking irritated. She had a hand on her hip, her green eyes slightly narrowed and her eyebrows were knitted together. Raph fell onto the bed, scratching the back of his neck.
'Look, I've been thinking, and I'm...sorry.' He mumbled. A satisfied grin appeared on Mona's face when she heard this. Raph would barely ever apologise, so they had to treasure whenever he did.
'I totally get why you don't want to take it to the next level, and I'm fine with it, honestly. I'm willing to wait, a year, or 10 years, for you.' Mona's tense posture loosened and she sat next to him on the bed.
'I appreciate that. Really.' She smiled lightly at him, as he pulled her onto his lap.
He kissed her, smirking against her lips.
'Good. Cos I'm not good at apologies.'
And neither was Dakota.
