'Fine. I'll pick it up on my way out. Whatever. Love you too!' Mona hung up, turning to her envious team mates.
'What?'
'New boy?' One asked.
Mo shrugged, grabbing her bag and slinging it over her shoulder.
'You could say that. It's only been official for like two days.'
The other girl slowly nodded, lifting her head.
'And you're already using the L word? Impressive.'
Mona tossed her hair, leaning against the wall.
'It's complicated. I'll see you guys tomorrow.' She waved goodbye, watching them leave the room. She slid down against the wall, giving herself alone time. She heard the door creek and faint footsteps which gradually grew louder. She looked up to see Dakota standing in front of her, where she greeted her with a gag and got up. She moved away from her, putting a hand on her hip.
'Are you stalking me? Do I need to get a restraining order?'
Dakota suppressed an upcoming laugh, shaking her head.
'No. I just want to let you hear my side of the story on Hallowe'en. I honestly did try to help you, but I didn't know brainwashing you was just a trick. I didn't mean for Leo to get hurt the way he did, same with you.'
Mona scoffed, smiling obnoxiously.
'Why would I be hurt? I'm just surprised at the fact it wasn't your intention to hurt me.'
'Okayyy, I deserved that one. Mo, seriously I think that I've been punished enough so could you at least try to move on?'
Mona moaned, tilting her head far back. Fustrated, She moved it back, moving closer to Dee.
'Please, the only punishment you got was having your new school see your tits. Trust me, my life has been way worse than yours.'
'And I didn't mean for any of this to have happen!'
'Like how you never meant to ruin two of my relationships?'
'You're with Leo now!'
'You plan on having sleeping with him too?'
'I wouldn't do that.'
'And I said I would never do drugs or have sex until I'm 21. We all lie.'
Dakota silently surrendered, knowing that this conversation wouldn't be going anywhere.
'Fine. What do you want from me? Because clearly I still owe you.'
'What I want, is for you to never show your face around Manhattan. Life would be so much easier if I didn't have to see the person I trusted with my life for god knows how long every day, not going through the same hell as I had the to.' She hissed. She began to walk to the door, but stopped to say one more thing.
'Why my life?'
Dakota shut her eyes momentarily, thinking of an appropriate way to answer this.
'You know, I did always admire and sometimes envy you. Come on, you're the most popular girl on the Upper East Side, you're painfully talented and have the most craziest, yet wonderful family. Yes, I wished I could be in your shoes, but not like this.'
Mona felt the hairs on her neck stand up, until she left the room. Dakota waited for her to have left the building so she did the same.***
Mikey got up from the sofa when he saw Mona walk over with bags of takeaway.
'You are an angel.'
'An angel on a diet. I can't eat junkfood for like another two weeks. The last thing I need is two barf everywhere while I perform.' She insisted, tossing a bag to Mikey and Donnie.
'Where's April and Casey? This is supposed to be a celebration of my awesomeness.'
'Well I'm right here Mo.' Casey greeted, kicking open the kitchen door. April shoved past him in disgust, Casey mocking her from behind.
'You love me really.'
'What?'
'Nothing.'
Mona moved to sit down until she felt arms move round her waist. She whined as she attempt to pry off Leo's grasp on her.
'Go away.'
'Nice to see you too.' He planted a kiss on her as she laughed against his lips. Raph stormed past, grabbing the bag off Donnie and sitting down.
'Get a room.'
Mona looked over at Raph, sticking her tongue out.
'Okay guys. Even though I can't eat this myself, I think that we should all enjoy our last meal together before I leave for LA. It's not like we could go out, considering you're still grounded for another week.'
'Courtesy of your boyfriend.' Raph pointed out bluntly.
'Come on. If we're looking for people to blame it should be Mikey for being drunk on the job.' She protested.
'In my defence, I had no idea what that stuff does to you. I think we all gathered I'm not the smartest here.'
Casey sighed, devouring pot noodles as he spoke in a muffled tone.
'Look, you're all grounded, get over it. When you're from the Upper East Side you're expected to do crazy things. I've been technically arrested before.'
Raph clapped sarcastically for him.
'I am so not surprised.'
April cocked an eyebrow at him, putting down her sushi plate.
'What do you mean, technically.'
'A couple of friends and I broke into school back in September. You can't graduate without having a lock in. Then, they invited more friends and it went wild.'
Mona rolled her eyes, finally deciding to sit down.
'Remind me not to do that next year.'
Donnie put an arm round Casey, giving him a sincere look.
'I can't believe Casey Jones is graduating, before Mona.'
'Well, I am a year older than her.' He defended, half flattered and insulted.
'As much as I hate a sentimental moment, I have to say it's sort of touching looking at all of us now.'
Raph snorted though he sided with this thought.
'Yeah. If Leo grows any taller will have to move to the Empire State Building.'
This received a well rounded laugh from everyone, Leo blushing red. Raph looked across from him to see Mikey once again tearing up.
'Mikey!'
'These pot noodles are so hot.' He whimpered as he ate them.
'But I do love you guys.'
Mona used that to question him.
'As much as you love pizza?'
'You're not that special Mona,'
***
She kicked the door open, rolling into the penthouse on her segway, dragging a suitcase behind her.
'Hellooooh my god.' She stood at the door in awe, dropping her luggage and staring at who her family were with. Her parents, her brother, the turtles, April and Casey all were sat comfortably next to each other, all of their eyes glued to the TV screen.
'OhHi Mona.' Everyone greeted with a half hearted wave. Mona slowly closed the door, however still stood by it.
'What are you watching that's so funny?'
'You.' Her father answered.
'Leo, go help her with her stuff.' Both stood up, until Derek pulled Leo back to his seat by his arm.
'As in my Leo.'
Mona rolled over, staring in horror at herself on the big screen.
Okay, this is wack. My boyfriend and his insane brothers are hanging out with my even more insane family? Watching Christmas videos of me?'
She grabbed the remote, turning off the TV.
'Mo! I was just about to show them the 6th school talent show!' Her dad whined, reaching out for the remote. She quickly extended her arm, trying to get it out of his reach.
'Are you all forgetting something?'
The group thought for a moment, until Libety spoke up.
'Right...the pizza! Oh Mo, we're just messing with you. We missed you!' She pulled her into a hug as well as everyone else.
She hopped off her motion skate board, taking her brother's seat besides Mikey. Derek cleared his throat, raising eyebrows at Mo's new toy.
'What's this?'
'God Dad. It's a segway. I got it in LA.'
'For how much?'
'$250. But..the neon colours were $50 more.'
Raph sniggered, grabbing the segway and twirling it with ease.
'Good investment.'
April waved her arms wildly in order to get everyone's attention.
'Okay enough of that. How was the competition? How was going to LA again.'
'Well, for LA, they could never disappoint with its weather. Whereas for the big competition...I'm going to Tokyo!' She shrieked, jumping up and down on the sofa. Everyone else celebrated along side her, showering her with congratulations and compliments and hugs.
She jumped back onto the floor, grabbing Leo's hands and swinging them, still gently bopping up and down.
'And of course, I'm going to throw another legendary party to celebrate.' She announced, though her parents weren't slow to retaliate.
'Another party?' Libby complained.
'When?'
'Like, next week? Come on, if I can plan the perfect Hallowe'en/ sweet sixteen bash I'm 100% sure I can pull this off. Pleeeeaasseee?' She pulled the puppy eyes, still linking the edge of her fingertips with Leo's. Her parents gave each other an uneasy look, however reluctantly agreed to her forceful request.
'Yay. Okay, someone care to explain this whole, fiasco?'
'I can explain that.' Her brother answered, making a dramatic return from upstairs.
'Dude, it took you like 5 minutes to put only like two of my bag upstairs.'
'Who said I was doing just that?'
'I won't even ask.'
'Anyway, I felt like Dad deserved an explanation on the hectic weekend of Mona's party the days he was in London.'
Mona squeezed her eyes shut, biting her tongue as well.
Dear god.
'So, a few days ago, we were all sat at the dinner table and mom couldn't stop going on about your pathetic fetish over a guy who happens to share the same name as me and had already met dad before, so of course I chipped in and told them how I was kept up until 4 am on Hallowe'en, due to your endless...you know what. So hey, I just saw an opportunity to embarrass you.' Mona made a strangling motion with her heads, directed at the trouble maker known as her sibling.
Derek, put an arm round Mona, laughing.
'You couldn't have waited another 5 years?'
'Being me, I could have waited for only five minutes.'
Casey stepped in between everyone, deciding to make things less awkward for everyone else.
'As much as we love hearing about Mona's love life, I think we should do some real celebrating.'
'Get wasted on Broadway and go skinny dipping in the Central Park Fountain?' Mo's brother suggested.
Casey mentally face palmed as well as feel sorry for the boy.
'No! Twister.!'
Everyone hooted, as a sign of being on board with the plan. Mona wiggled away from everyone, standing at the side and backing out.
'The last thing I want to do is move around. You guys can play, I'll just get it on record.' She hurried upstairs, sauntering leisurely into her room. She crawled under her bed, taking the game out and sliding it to the door. She heard the door close a second time, chuckling before even looking.
'April, we may be like sisters but you still have to knock.' She swivelled around, still sitting on the floor, rolling her eyes playfully at Leo.
'You should go back downstairs before my dad kills you.'
He snorted, moving beside her.
'We both know he's too kind to do that.'
'I'm so embarrassed. Can you believe Leo would expose me like that?'
Leo hesitated, then nodded.
'Yeah.'
'Whatever. I know plenty of things that could get him grounded until he leaves for college.'
'As much as I admire your evil mastermind ways, chill for a moment. Excitedfor January?'
'Duh! Tokyo is one of the three other places I've always wanted to visit. Next to, Dubai and Cape Town.' She smiled at the thought of that, resting her head against Leo's shoulder.
'Don't come back dressed like a crazy harijuku girl.'
She chuckled softly, shrugging.
'I can't make any promises.' She teased. He rolled his eyes, planting a kiss on her.
'I've missed your face.' He said between lip locking.
'Really? Because it looks like you have more fun dating my dad than me.' She retorted, pulling away and pouting. He cooed at her, ruffling her hair.
'Don't be so modest.' He fought back, leaning back in. He then stopped when the door bounced off the wall. The other Leo picked up the twister box, flaunting it around.
'Did you plan on actually giving us the game? And get a room!'
'We're in it!' Mona screamed back. Leo stuck a finger at her before storming back downstairs, dissing his sister aloud. Mona leaned against the bed frame, crossing her arms.
'Now, I'm annoyed.'
Leo chuckled, snaking an arm round her.
'I would be lying if I didn't feel like I was dating the both of you now and then.'
***
Mikey's eyes fluttered open as he sat up, feeling an insane chill go down his spine.
'Oh. My. God.' He jumped out of bed, grabbing his Santa hat and skipping around the corridor, banging on everyone's doors.
'Guys! Wake up it's Christmas! It's Christmas!' He squealed on a never ending cycle. Raph grabbed him from behind, spinning him round and glaring directly at him.
'Shut up!'
'It's Christmas!'
Raph groaned, trudging off without saying a word to everyone else when they got out of their rooms. Mikey continued his joyous lap, walking over to the couch and lifting it, watching Mona and Leo roll on to the floor. Mona shot up, grabbing her bag and walking into the kitchen. Raph pulled a face at her, before turning to the fridge.
'You spent the night here?'
'Merry Christmas to you too.' She retorted, setting her bag down and rummaging through it for her medication. Raph shrugged, sitting back down with a milk carton in his hand.
'Meh, I'm not big on holidays.'
'But you love Hallowe'en.'
'Because I can be total ass and get away with it. Whereas Christmas I actually have to try and tolerate people without wanting to just go crazy on them.'
Mona clinked her water bottle with his carton once she had taken her pills.
'I can relate.'
Mikey, Donnie and Leo eventually showed up, sitting at the table with the other two.
'Merry Christmas!' Mikey announced.
Already frustrated, everyone quickly turned against the boy.
'Shut up Mikey!'
Mikey shrank, wondering off to the extension.
'I got you guys the bestest present ever.'
'One that doesn't come to a total of $40,00"?' Leo asked slyly. Mo rolled her eyes at him, shaking her head simultaneously.
'No way. It's only worth half of my allowance. Hey Mikey, make me a takeaway breakfast, I'll need to hit the road soon if I want to avoid traffic.'
Donnie snorted, walking over and displaying his t-phone screen in front of her.
'Unless you plan on teleportation, you won't be going home soon, the heavy snowfall is turning the city upside down. Of course it happens to be on Christmas Day.'
Leo and Raph gazed at him, unimpressed but then again not surprised.
'What?'
'You loser. Who reads the news!' Raph insensitively commented. Donnie stuck his tongue out, sitting back down.
'If I'm going to waste my time watching TV I can at least watch something relevant.' He argued.
'I can't believe I'm stuck here, on Christmas! I should be at home, mocking my dad's onesie and making paper hats out of the gift wrap and going bunking with my brother at Macy's until we get escorted out by cops. Christmas is ruined!' Mo wailed, getting up and ready to throw some sort of fit. He held her arm, pulling her onto his lap.
'Don't be such a grinch.'
'Gee best boyfriend ever!'
'It won't be that bad. I'm sure you'll be able to get back home in no time.'
***
'It's been 5 hours! Mikey, do you think you can make me eggnog?' Mo requested.
'Okay!' He got up until Raph stopped him from going anywhere.
'I suggest you sit down.'
Mikey mockingly gave in, sitting back down in front of the TV.
Mo rested her head on Leo's lap, gazing at the ceiling.
'I wonder what I got. I hope a new car, or a holiday home in the Hamptons.'
Raph rolled his eyes not so discretely at her suggestions.
'What more could you need, princess?'
'A wild animal as a pet.'
'That was rhetorical.'
'Shut up, Raphael.'
Momentarily, two of their friends showed up at the entrance, both in celebratory attire from head to toe.
'Merry Christmas!' The two sang harmoniously.
Everyone over lapped their greets, still sitting in place due to their comfortableness. Mona sat up, knitting her eyebrows together at Casey and April.
'How did you get here?'
Casey laughed.
'A car.'
Mona got up, bouncing up and down in place.
'Christmas is saved! I'll see you in a bit.' She kissed everyone goodbye then skipped out of sight, singing hymn choruses which echoed through the tunnels.
April mentally shrugged off her behaviour, surprised at her astonished the turtles were at this.
'It's not even her bipolar. The girl loves Christmas.'
***
'Are we nearly there yet?'
'No.'
'Okay. Now?'
'Michelangelo, for the 34th time, no!' Mona, used a spare arm to flick his neck, acknowledging how much he hated that.
'Okay, look!' She removed her hands away from Leo's eyes, as April did for Donnie and Casey did for Mikey. The seven of them stood in front of what seemed to be abandoned warehouse, lacking any sort of excitement for their gift.
'I can see this is clearly under your allowance.' Said Raph.
Mona scoffed, walking to a keypad on the wall and entering the password. The door elevated, revealing an elaborate dream skater pad. Mona smirked, knowing that the boys standing behind her were gawping. The hall sized room was decorated with beautiful graffiti painted over the walls, a bar, a skate ramp and a lounge all neatly layer out in a section of the room.
'Why are you still standing here? Go play.' April, Donnie, Mikey and Raph gone off to explore their new man cave, whereas Leo and Mona broke off from the rest and went outside again. Leo pulled her to his chest, peppering kisses all over her face.
'I love I love you I love you.'
Mona pushed him off playfully, rolling her eyes.
'You sound like my grandma. It's no big deal.'
'Don't be so modest. How long did it take?'
Mona thought for a few, giving a very rough answer.
'Since November. I honestly- I'll be right back.' She walked off, making her way to the blonde girl on the other side of the street. She deliberately decided to bump into her, only because she didn't want to seem like a complete loser.
'Gosh I am sorry. Mona! Hi...'
'Yeah. Hi.'
Dakota flushed red, knowing that whatever the weather Mona would hater her forever.
'Look Mo-'
'Stop talking. You know I spent the first half of my day stuck with the turtles and sitting in the freezing cold, with no idea what I got. But that, it was an okay experience, even though they probably think otherwise. What I'm trying to say is, Christmas is about forgiving, next to Thanksgiving anyway. I guess I'm trying to say is, we're not friends, but I guess I can tolerate you. So if you were to hang out with the boys whilst I'm there, or you transfer back to Roosevelt, I wouldn't try and kill you. Sounds okay?'
A smile froze upon Dakota's ice cold face.
'Sounds perfect.'
From above, a snowball had dropped onto Leo's head, two others crushing beside him. He looked up, watching the female assassin fly from the rooftop. She landed swiftly, putting a hand on her hip and smiling coldly at Leo.
'What a wonderful time of year.'
'What do you want Karai?'
'I can't wish you Merry Christmas? I'm hurt.' She had no intention of sugar coating that sarcasm when she spoke.
Leo scoffed, looking away.
'Everything you do comes with a catch.'
'Not this time. I'm taking a break from trying to ruin you and your moron brothers and even bigger moron bestie lives.'
'Mona, who now also happens to be my girlfriend now, has a an average of A-. I agree with everything else though.'
Karai cooed sarcastically before laughing at her own deviousness.
'That's adorable. It's a shame I have no heart because I would have found that too sweet. Anyway Leonardo, you put up a good fight this year. You enjoy your freedom, because January 2nd I'll show no mercy.'
Leo smiled a genuine smile at her.
'I look forward to that day.'
She made her way back to the rooftop and giving him a salute.
'Happy Holidays.'
