Leo stood on the balcony of the Stockman's watching her from a distant. He had no idea what he was going to say to her, I mean, she just got in a car accident and of course he couldn't help but feel responsible. But then again he didn't really understand why he was so worked, I mean, Mona always said 'it's not that deep' and I guess she had always been right when she said it, but, ugh, god it's all so confusing. He took a deep breath, before finally having the courage to knock of the glass door. Mona turned her head and groaned to herself. She hadn't gotten off the couch in like the past, she didn't even know what time it was. She grabbed her crutches and hopped through the living room into the kitchen, grabbing the keys with her mouth before placing them in her palm and opening the door for Leo. He winced when he saw her, examining her before meeting her eyes with a weary look on his face.
'You look...well.'
'I look like shit.'
And Mona had cut him off before he could even argue, making her way back to her space on the couch in front of the TV.
Leo chuckled, following after her. He stopped walking then stared at the TV to find Mona playing an awfully gruesome.
'So you spent like 2 hours playing this nonstop? I had no idea you were into this stuff.' He stammered, wanting to look away but his eyes were glued to the screen.
Mona simply smiled, still focusing on the game.
'Neither did I. Leo just left it lying around easy enough for my dad to see it, and it's not like I'm in the best state to do anything else.'  She answered blankly.
Leo sighed sitting beside her.
'You are a woman of many wonders.'
'Thanks?'
'And I would appreciate it if you actually take a break from...Mortal Kombat X(looking at the game cover in front of him) just so we cam talk and not watch someone getting their heart ripped out in HD.'
Mona sighed, pausing the game and putting down the xbox controller reluctantly.
'What is it?'
Leo shrugged
'I wanted to know how you were holding up.'
Mona looked at him funny, pointing to the casts in her wrist and ankle.
'What do you think? And just to be on the safe side, I'm going to get a gown instead of the cocktail dress I planned on wearing for Homecoming, just to be on the safe side. And my calendar is practically now empty, seeing I'm not fit to anything, but hey at least-'
'This all my fault.' Leo said quickly, squeezing his eyes shut.
Mona raised an eyebrow, lifting her head.
'What?'
'If I didn't just pick up your phone call the purple dragons wouldn't have found you, and done this.' He mumbled staring at the floor.
Mona sighed, putting a hand on his shoulder.
'Don't be ridiculous. It didn't matter who, it still would have happened. So don't be so annoyed about it. It's not like this is permanent anyway.' She reassured.
Leo bit down on his bottom lip, scratching his head.
'Well, I got annoyed enough to confront Karai about it.'
Mona moved her hand away, jerking her head back glaring at Leo in shock and frustration.
'You did what?!'
'Look, Raph told me she was behind it so I went and told her off. I was only do it to protect you!' He protested.
Mona scoffed, shaking her head and folding her arms.
Leo noticed this attitude in her, and looked at her, confused.
'What?'
'When is anybody going to get the message I don't need protecting all the time? Nobody seems to realise that I'm not some little helpless girl who needs bodyguards by her all the time.' She exclaimed turning away.
Leo widedn his eyes, standing up,
'You serious? Mons, you were in accident, it could have gone way worse? And this isn't the first time your life has been at risk!' He argued.
Mona laughed.
'Yeah? This isn't the first you guys had messed things up because you were trying to protect me? April's dad was left roaming around Manhattan still looking like a beast for another year, because you had to protect me. I had to walk in on my boyfriend and best friend sucking each other's faces off because no one told me about the, before because they were trying to protect me. Now, you're probably going to get your shell ripped off by your ex-girlfriend for trying to protect me. You know, sometimes it doesn't even feel like you're trying to protect me, it's just as if I'm your scapegoat.' She snapped, she turned away, not facing Leo. Loe stood there, speechless. The ignorance was amazing.
'Ever tried looking at it from our perspective? Things are going to go wrong, who fricken cares? At least things can go wrong whilst we're all still in one piece!' Leo exclaimed. He stood, waiting for Mona to say something back.
'Why so you do this?'
'Do what?'
'Push people away. People who care about you? You know at the end of the day does it really matter about winning Homecoming Queen? Having the world stop just because Mona Stockman is coming down the halls? That's the kind of stuff that makes you feel good about yourself?'
Mona gritted her teeth, grabbing her crutches and standing up, staring right up at Leo.
'I'm guess pushung people away is the only way I'll get through life because depending on people has gotten me nowhere.' She shouted at him.
'And neither will being such a brat! Mona, why don't you wake up and realise that you pushing people away and not being able to open to the truth is the only reason you've turned into such an obnoxious bitch towards everyone?!'
Mona's eyed widened, she choked, then turned away,  closing her eyes. Leo's mouth gaped open. He felt like slapping himself silly.
'God Mona I'm so s-'
'Save it. You were my only friend who had never called me that. And just when I thought you couldn't hurt me once.' She mumbled the last bit of her sentence, Leo could barely hear it. They stood there in silence, but he eventually left, without saying a word. Leo stood on the balcony again, looking back and forth from the city and Mona until she was no longer in view. Mona sat against the glass wall beside her ctuches, pulling her knees to her chest. Now she definitely felt alone. She hide her face, sobbing quietly to herself. She didn't know what was more upsetting, knowing that Leo was right, or the fact he had the never to say those things to her.
