Raph hung his head in shame and agony, making his way to the kitchen. He had received the biggest ass whooping from sensei which was one he couldn't forget. He didn't know what was more painful, the upcoming wound on the back of his neck made from Splinter's electrifying tail, or the fact he had to sit through a lecture for a good fifteen minutes.
He slammed the kitchen door behind him when he entered then rummaged through the fridge for an icepack. His brothers star at the table watching him in dead silence. Leo, Donnie, Mikey said exchanged worried looks, before their eyes went back to focusing on Raph as he exited. Leo, somehow pitying his brother, went on out to follow him.
'Hey I-'
'Save it, I don't need to sit through another lecture.' Raph snapped, turning around.
Leo widened his eyes, but then again wasn't exactly surprised by his outburst.
'Who said I was going to do that? I was just going to say that I hope you finally realised your mistake and how it's actually has an effect on the rest of us.' Leo shrugged off his comment, waiting patiently for some sort of retaliation.
Raph growled, dropping his bag of frozen peas in front of him.
'Oh please. Don't think for a second you're getting all angry at me because of how it will affect all of us, but how it will probably affect your relationship with Mona. Not seeing her as often, sucks huh?' He retorted angrily. Leo's face dropped, bewildered at this accusation which he still didn't get.
'What are you trying to say?'
'What I'm trying to say is sometime after Karai, you had the hots for Mona, and still do, probably explains why you seemed to be getting so worked up over this.'
Leo stood silently, looking anywhere which wasn't Raph's eyes. Did it show? He shook his head, then cleared his throat, moving closer to Raph
'Don't even think about blaming me! Trust me, with all of the opportunities I've had, I could have made a move, but I didn't because I'm not some backstabbing self-centred bastard who cannot take the blame for anything he does.' He screamed in his face at the top of his lungs. Mikey and Donnie burst out of the kitchen just in time to see this, there mouths dropped open when they heard this, Raphael just stared at his brother in fury, he was angry and impressed, Leo had never cursed before in his life.
'What did you just say?!' Raph stammered, still in shock from what he just heard.
Leo shrugged off his comment.
'You heard.' He seemed awfully calm despite what he just said. He knew he was probably get into major trouble with Splinter, but, yolo.
Raph huffed, clenching his fists, basically burning as bright as his bandana.
'You have some nerve Leonardo, but trust me as soon as I-'
'What? Beat me up? Who's that going to help, definitely not yourself. No matter how hard you hit me, it won't equal to half of the pain you've already caused.' He scoffed, standing completely calm.
Raph unglued his fingers, and shoved past his brother, he made his way out of the lair, ignoring the shouts after him.
'Come on dude, let's sit down and sort this out yo!' Mikey hollered at him,, he felt a hand on his shoulders, and it wasn't Leo.
'He needs space, give it to him.'Raph ventured down an isolated neighbourhood in Manhattan like a hurricane, destroying everything in his path. He was mumbling ridiculous things under his breath, mainly about Leo of course.
'Stupid brother, getting involved. And the way he doesn't even deny liking my girlfriend. My girlfriend.' He scoffed then slid against the brick wall behind him, carrying on cursing ridiculously.
'Hey. Keep screaming like that the old lady downstairs in going to come down and have a right go at you.' He heard Dakota yell from the upstairs building. He went the to back of the apartment and ran up the fire escape until he reached Dakota's floor. She opened up the big window for him, gesturing for him to come outside.
'Shouldn't you be in school?'
Dakota stared at him pitifully, rolling her eyes.
'You think that's the best idea? Besides, I doubt anyone noticed.' She scoffed, falling back on the couch.
'And what's your deal anyway? You're destroying my street.'
Raph sighed, leaning against the door.
'Mr Perfect at it again. But who could blame him?'
Dakota laughed at him obnoxiously.
'Definitely not us. You know how close Leo and Mona are, and the last thing I want is to ruin another of her relationships.' She mumbled the last bit of her sentence, staring at the floor. Raph sat beside her, staring at the floor with her.
'You know, you don't actually have the leave the city right? Mona will come around, eventually, maybe, hopefully.'
Dakota shook her head, laughing again.
'Doubt it.'
'Why's that?'
Dakota lifted her head, huffing. She had no idea how she was going to say this.
'Ever had a conversation with Mona about her past relationships?' She questioned him. Raph simply shook his head.
Dakota chuckled, running a hand through her chestnut brown hair.
'Well erm, not long after we met you guys, around November, my parents divorced and you know, I hadn't exactly found a good place in life then and still to this very day. And it was the same time Mona started dating the most popular girl in school who was just a year above us, Ivy Sinclair.'
Raph's mouth dropped open.
'Wait, wait wait. So you're telling me that, she's...?'
'Yep. Now can I carry on?'
Raph sighed heavily rolling his eyes.
'Sure.'
'Well erm, Ivy hated me, and pretty sure she envied my friendship with Mona. And well I hated her too, but for Mona's sake, we were civil, and then during the whole process of sinking in the fact my dad left me for some younger bitch he cheated on my mom with, Mona was very distant to me. I guess it was just puppy love, at first I didn't really act upon it and then rolled in the wild partying, boys, and the drinking more frequently and I became so selfish. And I thought that Mona was actually going to be there to you know, help me, but Ivy oh Ivy how she was obsessed with her. And instead of confronting Mona about the whole thing like any normal person would, I got her shipped off to some rehab in Colorado. Yes, Victoria of course managed to know how irritated by the fact Mona was basically ditching me for some 6 ft something blonde girl and told me how she found 17 grams of weed in her bag, while getting changed for gym. So, I took the drugs and handed them to her parents. After that, we never saw Ivy again. I thought I would be so happy to have my best friend back, but then it went on to the list of everything I've regretted doing in life.'
Raph tilted his back, taking everything he heard in slowly.
'So, me and Mona wasn't exactly the first time you...and how the hell could she keep the fact she's bisexual a secret?! Huh, I'm guessing Leo knew.'
'Mona never brought it up, because she didn't want to make it look like she was holding some sort of grudge. God, she's too forgiving. You see Raph, this is why I have to leave. I just ruin everything. Everyone hates me, I betrayed my friends and just destroyed the bond between us all which made us a family. Everyone would be better off if I just disappeared. Including myself.'
Raph swallowed hard, rubbing his temples. He hated to admit, but she was right. Dakota does need a break from all of this.
'So where are you going to stay?'
'I think I'm going to live with my dad and his girlfriend up in Atlanta.'
'Atlanta? That's far.'
She smirked briefs getting up from her seat.
'I know. And may I just add that Mona's ex-girlfriend is now lives in California, where Mona will happen to be for all of spring break.'
Raph had never felt so guilty about a situation like right now.
He got up and stared at Dakota.
'Well I guess this is, bye.'
'I guess it is.'
They stood there awkwardly in silence. Raph wasn't big on hugs, but Dakota was.
