Uncle was currently carrying me through this shady district. Or rather I'd like to call it shady. But in reality it didn't match up to what I would have thought a red light district would have looked like. Although most of what I thought it would look like comes from anime, some Chinese web novels and that one documentary I watched on Hitler where the prostitutes were advertising themselves near the shop windows.

Other than that... I had no clue what a red light district was supposed to look like. So the street lined with high-end hotels instead of motels made me realise how well people tend to hide their dirty secrets. I saw up ahead that there was a gas station and shops lining up most of the street. It made those dead bodies in that isolated square a hard to acknowledge idea.

But of course, the actual people that are using the red light district don't seem as well versed in hiding things. As we walked it was hard not to notice celebrities getting tailed.

Although, some seem to want to be seen to sell themselves or to gain some kind of attention from the public. It made me shudder slightly.

My shudder didn't seem to go unnoticed by the uncle holding me closer to his chest to share some heat with me.

As he did this, I noticed how everyone would stare at him and how he was ignoring them whilst paying constant attention to me. I guess the uncle was very handsome. I didn't think to evaluate his looks before, so when I became sponsored by him after my initial evaluation... Well it was hard to understand.

Thinking so, we continued down the road. Every so often I would see people trying to talk to the uncle. But Uncle seemed determined to ignore them.

A few people were blatantly talking about me though. I wanted to say that they did it maliciously, but I had to question whether they wanted me to have the attention of the surrounding media or they themselves wanted attention from the reporters.

It got to the point where it was not just annoying, but provoking so I made a "tch" sound with my mouth.

When I did make the sound Uncle seemed to chuckle under his breath. Why? Who knows? This Uncle is a strange one. He seemed lazy, but he was too well prepared when it came to annoying me.

Like that we continued to walk until Uncle found his car... He seemed to have left it at the gas station.

The car looked expensive and was a dark grey colour with a border of white and black outlining its frame. The door opened up automatically. Uncle got into the driver's seat still holding me as he closed the door. He then placed me on the passenger seat and buckled my seat belt for me.

I frowned slightly when he did it only for him to reprimand me like a child for frowning.

"Frowning attracts monsters, so you need to be good and stay still now. Okay?" He explained this to me in a tired voice that differentiated from the previous playful and high in energy voice that he had when I met him.

A part of me wanted to ask if he was the monster that I was baiting, because the previous things weren't at the level where they could be described as monsters. The previous things that swarmed around me were annoying bugs that I seemed to have successfully gotten away from.

So instead I asked a question.

"When do we get to my new shelter?"

"Your new shelter? Well, it would have taken a couple of hours before. But I'll be shopping around for the necessities you'll need and condemning the government so I'll be able to adopt you under the pretext of sponsoring you. I'll check back in with my family about the sponsorship via a communicator when we get home." The sentence came out slowly as if he were thinking about the specifics of each sentence he said.
