Jake is Alex's boyfriend, tall with blue eyes and blonde hair. They had been together for a year before he left the city Alex lived in for Canada because his dad got transferred through his job. They kept in touch all the time and are approaching two years together, he was accepted by Alex's mom and sister and indeed he's a charm.
Alex was in her room admiring a photo of Jake when someone knocked on her door.
"Who's there?" She asked.
"It's Stephanie." Came the reply. Stephanie is Alex's younger sister who looks a lot like their late dad with her black hair. She is just 12, still in middle school.
"Yeah what do want?" Alex sked again, not opening the door.
"At least open the door first."
"Ugh. It's not locked, come in."
"Yo what are you doing?" Stephanie asked, interested in the photo Alex was holding.
"Is that what you came here for?" lex snapped at her, quickly keeping the photo under her pillow.
"Don't bother. It's Jake right? Well he's downstairs waiting for you. Be quick, mom's keeping him company." Stephanie said with a wink.
"Get out!" Alex shouted at her, throwing a pillow in her direction but she just laughed and ran out of the room before it could reach her.
"Such a pain." Alex hissed and took out the photo she had hidden under her pillow. "Jake." She smiled and hid it back.
Going down the stairs she stopped halfway on hearing Jake's voice.
"So when are you leaving Jake?" It was her mom, talking to Jake.
"I don't think I'll leave ma'am. My dad's been posted back to this place for his work, the same job took us out of here after all. Besides, my grandma missed us a lot so we're not leaving." Jake replied her.
"And your plans for college?"
"Actually, I'm not ready to go yet."
"Hmmm... but make sure you don't take too much time. I wonder why Alex is..."
"JAKE!" Alex screamed, running towards him.
"Speak of the angel." Jake said, standing to hug Alex.
"I missed you, why didn't you tell me you were coming?" Alex asked him, beaming with smiles and excitement.
"I wanted it to be a surprise, though I told Leah." He replied her.
"I'm here you know." Alex's mom spoke. Lyla, she was always a peaceful and totally loving woman. One look at her was enough to know where Alex got her hair color, eyes and every other facial detail from. She accepted Jake after seeing how much light he brought to her daughter's life when she was caught up and newly burdened with all the responsibilities towards their realm which Jake had no idea about, of course. Sadly, she was a widow. During one of the early clashes between good and evil, her husband was involved. He didn't die, bit he went into a coma and didn't wake up for three months, then she had only Alex and was pregnant with Stephanie. On the day of her delivery, he miraculously woke up, he saw his baby and kissed her, blessed his two children. He toke a nap after and didn't wake up. Alex and her mother cried a lot, Alex was just five then but they had to move on eventually and Lyla refused to get married again.
"Oh sorry mom." Alex laughed. "We're going out tonight mom, is that okay with you?"
"Tonight? It's already late you two, I don't think it would be safe." Lyla discarded the idea.
"I promise we'll be careful." Jake said.
"No Jake, you can never be too careful." Lyla was still adamant.
"My sweet mother." Alex said, putting her arm round her mom's shoulders.
"Nope, not working daughter."
"Mom please." Alex said, giving her mom puppy eyes.
Lyla looked at her with a straight face but soon burst into laughter.
"Fine, but be careful. And don't be long." She said, patting Alex on the head.
"I love you mom." Alex said hugging her mom.
"We won't be long ma'am." Jake said, heading towards the door with Alex.
"You better don't be." Lyla shouted after them. "Those two!" She said to herself as she sat on a couch in the sitting room.
