"So how was Canada?" Alex asked as she waited for a cab with Jake.
"Canada was fine and still is, I guess." Jake said, putting an arm round Alex's shoulder.
"I see. And your dad and granny?"
Sadly, Jake's mom left him and his father when he was ten, the marriage wasn't working for either of them anymore so he lived with his father and his father's mother."They're good. They're home."
"You guys aren't leaving anymore?"
"Hmmm, not anymore." Jake said, finally stopping a taxi.
"Good evening, where should I take you to?" Asked the old driver.
"Couple's Coffee Shop." Alex said.
"Coffee? You don't want to go to a restaurant?" Jake asked her.
"Maybe next time. Let's have coffee, they make great coffee, you'll love it!" She replied him.
"If you say so, after you." Jake said, opening the door for her.
"Thank you". She replied.
They both got in and the taxi zoomed off to their location. In ten minutes they arrived at the cáfe. They got out of the car and Jake paid the driver, then they went into the cáfe and found somewhere to sit.
Almost immediately a waiter came to them."Hello, good evening, welcome to Couple's Coffee Shop." The waiter, a young man with a good set of white and sparkling teeth came to them. Alex was looking at him and soon forgot she was with Jake.
"Alex, please talk to the waiter, I've never been here before." Jake said taking out his phone.
Alex didn't say a word, the waiter still stood there."Alex!" Jake spoke with his voice a bit raised to bring her back from wherever she went to.
"Yes....yeah, what?" Alex replied like she was dragged out of a daydream.
"The waiter's been waiting, please speak to him."
"Sure. Good evening sir. Two cups of hot coffee, extra milk in mine with minimum sugar and just two spoons of sugar for him."
"Okay madam." The waiter said leaving to get the order.
"You still know I don't like much sugar." Jake laughed.
"Sure." Alex smiled at him. "I think he's really handsome."
"I guess." Jake said, not raising his head from his phone.
"You think he's more handsome than you are?" Alex said, trying to get Jake jealous.
"Alex, don't push it." Jake said, laughing already.
"Your order madam." The young waiter came again, with the same smile he had earlier on his face.
"Thank you, take this." Alex said, attempting to pay.
"No take this." Jake said, stretching his hand with money towards the waiter before Alex could get the cash out of her bag.
"Jake I..."
"I want to Alex." He said, as the waiter took the money and left. "The coffee tastes really good." He said after a sip.
"I told you. They make the best coffee I've ever tasted, well, not better than Stephanie of course." Alex laughed.
"Stephanie makes coffee? That's....odd." Jake said, sipping from his cup.
"Yeah it's a bit odd. 'Cus she never goes into the kitchen but her coffee has this really unique taste. Mom says she makes it just the way father used to make it. Stephanie has 'a lot of dad in her', meaning she has more traits of my father than I do." Alex laughed sipping from her cup of coffee.
"Well she would have been his favorite."
"'Would have', true. Only if he was still with us and...." Alex didn't complete her statement, instead she started sobbing.
"I'm so sorry Alex, I didn't mean to..."
"It's okay. I just get emotional sometimes." Jake handed her a handkerchief which she took to dry her face.
"Let's talk of something else." Jake said, trying to change the atmosphere.
Alex took a short breath. "Yeah, like the handsome waiter right?"
"Oh c'mon Alex."
She laughed out heartily and Jake only smiled.
"It's getting late, we should he on our way now." Jake said.
"But it's to early to leave." Alex wanted to protest.
"It's too late too stay, your mom specially told us to be back early." Jake stood up, giving Alex his hand.
"Alright. Canada really transformed you, since when did you become time conscious?" Alex said, taking his hand as they made their way out of the cáfe.
"I think it's better than being forgetful." He replied her.
"Well I...." She was interrupted by her phone ringing in her pocket. She took the call without looking to see who it was.
"Alex, Alex!!" A voice screamed before Alex could even say a word. She looked at the phone's screen to see the name of the caller and it read 'Bestie', it was Leah.
"Leah, what happened, are you okay?" Alex asked her, tensed.
"Where are you Alex?"
"I'm with Jake now, we're at the new Coffee..."
"Please come to the house, I'll tell the rest. I need to tell you all about something."
"About what? And why do you sound so tensed?"
"I'll tell you when I see you."
"No tell me now Leah."
"I'm scared Alex, I had another dream."
"Oh my, what's it about this time?"
"Please just come to the house. I'll tell you all." Leah said quickly and ended the call.
"Leah? Leah!!" Alex screamed into the phone only to see that the call was ended. She sighed. "Jake I gotta go." She said and started running.
"What? Alex, wait! Stop!!" He shouted after her but she didn't stop. "Gosh Alex! I have no idea where she has gone to now what do I tell her mom? I'll have to go back to her house alone and tell her mom what happened." Jake said and boarded a cab to Alex's house.
