Alex got home that night looking completely disheveled. Her mom who was sitting in the living room rushed to her. It had rained heavily that night and she had tried calling Alex several times but the network was just terrible and when tye call finally went through, Alex didn't answer. Now she reached home drenched and looked so lost, her mom was worried sick.

"What happened to you Alex? What happened?' she asked her daughter as she held her shoulders and shook her gently. When Alex didn't say a word and just kept looking into space, she started observing her whole body. She placed her palms on her face and looked at it carefully. She ran her hands over Alex's arm and even bent down to check her legs. She still went behind her to make sure but when she saw nothing she asked again;

"What happened Alex dear? Are you fine? What's wrong?"

But Alex just walked slowly like she was being hypnotic and sat on the sofa, looking at nothing.

Her mom, Lyla, joined her and placed a hand on her shoulder, "What is it child?" She asked again.

"Stephanie." Was all Alex said.

"Stephanie? Y..you want Stephanie? Should I call her?" Lyla stood up.

"No mom." Alex was quick to grab her mom's hand before she left to get Stephanie.

Lyla sat back down and held her hand, "What us it Alex? Tell me."

"Mom, don't you think there are some things I need to know?" Alex asked flatly.

"What...what do you mean dear?" Lyla asked her, confused.

"I mean, is there anything you are hiding from me?" Alex maintained a flat tone and her Lyla's confusion only increased.

"What... there's nothing Alex. Why would I .."

"I summoned Alya's spirit today." Alex spoke.

Her mom went mite, shock and disbelief filling her eyes.

Alex turned to face her, "You know her mom, don't you? You know the names of all the previous League Heads and most powerful witches. You know Alya." Alex herself didn't know if the last sentence was a question or just a statement.

"M... mistress Alya..." Her mom was still in shock.

Alex waited patiently for her to come back.

"How did you..."

"We performed the ritual for binding the circle today and the Mistress gave me the spell to get the spell book. We used it go summon the spirits if the ancients."

Her mom was at a complete loss for words. From her expression, Alex was sure there was something but she was just as confused as her mom. Alya had said that there was still so much she didn't know and her mother would tell her those things but how was her mother supposed to know when Alya herself said they altered the prophecy and no one knows about it? She decided to tell her mom everything she learnt that day.

Lyla had a hard time recovering from the shock and for some reason , didn't want to believe what Alex said.

"No, no, this can't be. There's no way, this can't be." She kept saying.

"I wished too mom, but what exactly do you know?"

It seemed her mom didn't even hear her as she was still in her own world of shock and disbelief.

"No, this can't happen. They took my husband, they're taking my daughter, now they want my other daughter too? No, this won't happen." Lyla kept shaking her head.

"What are you saying mom? Who are 'they'? Why and how did they take dad? What are you saying mom?" Alex didn't understand anymore.

Alex held her mother's shoulders amd shook her gently.

"Alex, my child." Lyla started crying and hugged her. "I'm sorry." She said between sobs.
