Discoveries

Alex kept looking into the pair of familiar eyes and soon it looked like she was in a trance. Those eyes also, never left hers.

It seemed to be forever before they even blinked. Alex tried to speak but was not fully recovered from the shock of those eyes. "J..ja.." She kept stuttering until he said in a very low voice, "Alex."

They had another round of deep eye contact as Alex kept blinking and opening her mouth but was unable to say a thing. Jake just stared down at her, different though and emotions running through him. His never left hers for even a split second.

"Alex." He said again, raising a hand to touch her but stopping mid-way.

She blinked some more. "Jake." And it seemed it was all she could say.

"Alex I.. you..how...what are you doing here?" Jake asked, trying to organise his mind and words. Indeed he was doing a better job than Alex who just stood like a statue before him, a small bush of red roses between them. 

His hands moved to her arms and he shook her lightly.  She blinked rapidly as her mouth tried to form words.

"Why are you here Alex?" Jake asked, still holding her.

"Why are you here?" She asked him back.

"Alex, you need to leave this place right now." He said, taking hold of her hand to leave.

"It was you." She said, suddenly rooted to her spot on the ground.

"What?" He asked, turning to face her.

"You, it was your voice I heard." She said again, confusion and disbelief evident in her eyes.

"Voice?" Jake asked as he raised a brow slightly.  He gasped, "You're the blonde girl I..."

"You're a witch Jake?" Alex blurted. She felt her world spin, it was spinning too fast she wasn't sure she'd hold on for much longer.

Jake just looked down at her, sadness clouded his face. He had no words, jt seemed he was ashamed of his own reality.

Alex let out a very short and bitter laugh. "Wow." She sighed as she looked around, avoiding his gaze.

"Alex I'm sorry. I just didn't know how to tell you, I didn't want to lose..."

"Me neither." She said, giving him a bitter smile. "I guess it just had to happen this way."

"Alex I didn't want any of this. I literally have no choice."

"Don't explain anything Jake, I already know how things work here." Saying that she crossed the small bush of roses between the and attempted to walk away but he held her hand.

"Please don't leave me Alex." He begged.

"We can't work, we don't even stand a tiny chance, and I won't be letting history repeat itself. Be with your people Jake, I have to find my team." Saying the last sentence, she couldn't even hide the crack in her voice as her eyes welled up. Dhe snatched her hand from his and walked away from him while he stood helplessly behind her, looking on.

Suddenly she stopped walking and stood on the spot. The next thing he saw was her flying back to him like a strong force had pushed her. She fell into his confused posture and they both landed on the ground, her on top of him.

"Alex are you okay?" He asked as she hurriedly got up from him, nodding vigorously.  "Alex..." He raised his hand to her face but got interrupted.

"I'm ending you today!" Rosa snarled as she walked closer to Alex who stood next to Jake.

Jake swiftly moved Alex to stand behind him as he faced Rosa. "Rosa, what are you doing?" He asked her with a raised brow.

"Out of my way Jake, this is personal." Rosa snapped at him.

"What are you..."

"You shouldn't interfere in family matters Jake. Let's end this Rosa." Alex said firmly as she moved away from Jake.

"Alex are you.."

Thenext thing he saw was a spark as Alex and Rosa quested with their powers clashing with the other. Bright blue light came from Alex's hands and formed a bright ball of light which was being pushed at Rosa who was also sending a dark ball of smoke to Alex. Each put in all their effort and strength to overwhelm the other and Jake looked on in awe and confusion.

"Just give up already!" Rosa snapped at Alex through gritted teeth.

"I'd only go down when you go with me, cousin!" Alex replied her.

"Wait, cousin?!" Jake asked in more confusion.

But he didn't see Rosa's lips move swiftly as she uttered a spell to weaken Alex's arms. Soon her arms started failing and her light got dimmer.
