Y/n looked out of the window with tired eyes. They listened to music as they watched the surroundings. The bright city lights and dark midnight sky contrasted nicely, and they were perfect were lulling Y/n and their heavy eyelids to sleep.
When they woke up in dreamland they were met by a woman looking down at them in her lap. "H-huh?" Y/n spouted, looking around the white landscape. The woman chuckled at Y/n's surprise, "My name is Rose." the woman spoke, "Rose Quartz."
"Is-is this... real?" Y/n looked up at her pink gem which was placed on Rose's stomach. They reached up and felt it; It was somewhat warm as opposed to artificial.
She looked at Y/n quizzically before realizing what they meant and answering. "Oh. We are in your subconscious. I'm in your mind. I partially do not exist anymore." Rose replied, stroking Y/n's hair. They thought heavily about what it meant but found Rose's presence pleasant. "Well... why are you with me?" Y/n inquired. Rose took a pause and sighed before answering, "You and him... you two are the only ones who can save Earth."
"Me and him?" Y/n asked while they looked at Rose Quartz quizzically. "Right, you haven't met Steven!" Rose recognized, motioning as a figure similar to Steven appeared but composed of pink clouds as if it was cotton candy. "You, Steven, and my old friends will do great things." Y/n felt a disturbance, a muffled voice. Rose looked up, then back down at Y/n. "We don't have time to discuss this. You will wake up shortly." Rose stroked Y/n's hair once more and Y/n closed their eyes. "Become friends, maybe more, and you all will never have a dull moment." She laughed, smiling at Y/n

"Y/n!" Their mother shook them awake, "We're here. Aren't you excited about your new life?" their mother spoke. "Yeah! Beach City seems so cool!" they beamed. Y/n opened their car door and walked outside, stretching and groaning while admiring the beach. "I see you like the beach." D/n said while he wrapped his arm around Y/n's shoulder. "You can go down there, but get us a donut from over there." He spoke while pointing to the Big Donut.

Y/n sat on the beach, put down their bag of donuts, and kicked their shoes off; The sand on their feet calmed Y/n. They looked at the waves and took a bite of a donut. Y/n closed their eyes and thought of the crypticness of Rose.

A random song from Frank Ocean's Blonde album played, waking up Y/n. Y/n scrambled out of bed, grabbing their phone to turn off their alarm and check the time. "10:02?!" Y/n exclaimed. "Huh?!" M/n yelled from the other room. "Nothing mom!" Y/n responded as they were scrambling to get clothes on. Throughout the chaos, Y/n saw Steven on the boardwalk and slid on their rails to get downstairs and follow him.
"Rose, you, me, old friends!" Y/n blurted as they quickly caught up to Steven outside. Y/n could quickly discern Steven knew what they mentioned, but didn't have an idea why. "You... you're Y..y/n?" Steven asked and received a nod in response. "Rose told me about you!" They both said in surprise; They started laughing after that.
"Crazy. I know you don't believe that... unless... do you??" Steven laughed a bit more as reality set in for Y/n. "N-no, I can't save the world, I can't even take care of a plant... I always forget to feed it." Y/n blurted out. They walked and talked to each other, and stopped at a couple of shops.
"Well it's not that hard," Steven explained "For both things!" Y/n was somewhat calmed by Steven; They took a breath in and out. "Just these chaaaaps and cheese balls, Y/n, want anything?" Y/n finally looked around to see they were at a gas station. "We just met- I'll pay." Y/n stated 'matter-of-factly' as they tapped their pockets and handed the cashier 5 crumpled dollars.

"So- let me get this straight," Y/n continued as Steven tried explaining gems, homeworld, and the diamonds. "The crystal gems are light-based magic humanoid.. crystals? And they want to save humanity from the other gems who are in space?" Steven nodded as Y/n tried to grasp the concept.
"Can I meet them?" Y/n asked, half-joking and not expecting an answer. Steven was visibly thinking about what to do before responding "Yeah!" He exclaimed. "You can meet Lion, too!"

"My life was boring before the move— It was (Y/a) years of gray. And I just moved here, is this really my destiny?" Y/n thought to themselves; They proceeded up the stairs leading to the temple. Steven cheerfully waltzed inside. "It'll be fine, it'll be fine, she said I had to do this." They thought as they walked into the temple.
Y/n sat down on the couch crossing one of their legs. They looked to Steven who gave them two thumbs-ups. Y/n took a deep breath before starting to speak. "I... I'm Y/n. I and Steven just became friends,"
"They wanna come with us on our next mission!" Steven eagerly spoke.
