"Too slow!" I said, stabbing at Pearl who was off-guard. She riposted with a clever smile. Of course, with quicker thinking on my side, I adjusted the angle of my sword quickly enough to knock Pearl down.

"Aw, shucks, lil' old me won again." I held out my hand for her to get up with.

"Most impressive!" She took my hand. We kept holding hands even when we left the arena and went to the warp pad and back into the temple. "Pearl?" I asked. "You're still holding my hand."

"O-oh!" Her cheeks started becoming a teal blue as she retracted her hand and turned away.

"You kind of... reminded me of her." Pearl muttered.

"Oh..." I responded.

"It's okay, you can go." She said, almost reading my mind. "Steven and Connie are on the temple's right hand."

"Ah. Thanks." I dissipated my light sword and started running out of the temple, then manifesting light wings to fly over to the two.

"Y/n. Hey." Connie greeted me.

"What took you so long?" Steven asked.

"Pearl wanted to duel me. Of course, I won though." I proudly stated.

"How humble." Connie sarcastically replied.

"Hey, Connie can do that sword-thing too! Show them." Steven ushered her. Connie got into a pretty cool stance with her violin bow.

"You look like you have some potential. She's kind of tough as a trainer." I told her.

"She can't be as tough as my mom." She said; She looked happy at the prospect.

"You want me to do what??"

"Connie wanted to be trained in the art of the blade. Can you teach her?" I repeated.

"Well... I guess I was only a few thousand years old when I started training." She let her guard down.

"Please, I wanna learn," Connie blushed. "I mean, I don't know what'll happen in the future, but if something dangerous comes along, I don't wanna be a burden, I wanna help! I wanna be there for Steven, to fight by his side! The Earth is my home too, can't I help protect it?"

She clearly tugged on Pearl's heartstrings. Pearl's eyes were pricked with tears. "Oh... Okay..!" She stood up. "If that's how you feel, we should get started!"

"Hold on, now?" I asked, with the four starting to walk to the warp.

"Woah!" Connie's eyes darted around the sky arena.

"This is an Ancient Sky Arena, Connie, where some of the first battles for Earth took place. It was here that I became familiar with the human concept of being a knight, completely dedicated to a person and a cause-" I interrupted her by blowing a raspberry. Steven and Connie laughed while Pearl stopped to look at me.

"C'mon, give her the sword already. You didn't take nearly as long with me." I explained.

"Okay, okay... Connie, you must become brave, selfless, loyal... a knight! We begin with a bow, first to me, your teacher." Pearl said. The two bowed to each other.

"And now again, to your liege." She told her.

Connie bowed to Steven, and said "My liege." Steven bowed back and said "Miss knight." The two obviously were goofing off, I can't blame them. "Psst... take this seriously, Pearl is a 'by the books' type of gal." I explained.

Pearl's gem glowed before summoning a holo-Pearl. "Cool, hologram Pearl!" Connie excitedly said. Steven's face slightly frowned.

"To begin, this Holo-Pearl will be your opponent." The gem explained. "Do you wish to engage in combat?" The hologram got into a stance and summoned a holo-sword.
