Amber used to reside in Yellow Diamond's court. They were in a relatively luxurious building in a gem city.
Back then the prism chose a form that resembled other gems so as to not stand out. She had a taupe-colored body, flowy chestnut hair, and a dark brown triangular gem at her navel.
"Lady Amber!" A red Pearl approached Amber at a relatively quick pace.
The Pearl had lovely rose-tinted eyes, a light-coral body, and long crimson hair and casual clothes, and a shining red gem on her chest.

"You know what I think of that name— we're equals." Amber told the Pearl and started playing with her hair. "Do you remember what we said to each other on the battlefield?"
"Of course! How could I forget... but you're a prism, I'm a Pearl. I'm your property, you're a war weapon." The cerise gem refuted.
"No, no. You are mine as I am yours." She planted a peck on Pearl's cheek.
The red servant turned to look out of a window, her cheeks beet red. "I.. I just don't know if this will work out. You've heard the gossip about a... revolution."
"You have your fire lance, I have myself. We can escape to earth and live out our days in peace." Amber hugged her Pearl.
"The diamonds decided to give me a Pearl to serve as a war trophy for fighting bravely. I mean, I was a pretty decorated warrior, but back then I was alone."
"But you were the best of the best, right?"
"I wasn't truly happy before I met her."

"Meeting the Crystal Gems was pretty cool."
"How'd it happen?"
"Well..."
Red Pearl and Amber were exploring earth on a mission. Pearl was much more conscious of the environment which contrasted Amber who wanted to touch everything.
"Miss Amber... Please be more careful!"
"There's nothing dangerous out here! You should be eager to see what we've been missing on Homeworld!" The burgundy gem replied.
"Hm. Amber and a Crimson Pearl, you two must be Homeworld soldiers." An ivory-colored Pearl said from behind the two.
"Step away from her." Vermillion Pearl asserted, summoning her fire lance. The other Pearl had unsheathed two sabres, one sword for each hand. The two began to fight and eventually ended it in a clash.
Amber dived in with a downward slash but was stopped by a pink shield wielded by a pink quartz. It left her on the ground
"A Rose Quartz!" She glared, hopping back onto her feet within seconds.
"Pink Diamond plans to drain the earth of its life. It's not like a prism could understand our drive." The ivory Pearl parried a slash from Red Pearl.
"No, we love the earth! Me and Pearl were going to have our anniversary here." Her eyes beamed.
"Anniversary..?" Rose Quartz's Pearl stopped attacking, so did the Red Pearl.
"I mean, we aren't officially married, but yeah. It's been a year. If it's to save the earth I'd like to join forces." Amber said, dropping her weapon. Red Pearl did as well, and she went to Amber's side.
"Well... we have a lot to talk about. I apologize for my prior attitude." Pearl said. Amber gave the ivory gem a hug.
"You were more human than I thought."

"Then... the war came."
Amber had her hair tied into a bun and wielded a light sword. She initially was a rat who fed info to the Crystal Gems about strategies. Red Pearl and Amber were formidable, just the edge that they needed.
"That battle... I should've won."
"Too slow!" Amber dodged an ax swing from a large quartz guard. She had an heir of superiority when she poofed the Amethyst.
"Behind you." Red Pearl muttered, bashing in the knee of a stray Ruby and poofing them using her fire lance.
"VERMILLION PEARL! P56XE!" An orange gem growled.
"Oh my, Jasper. It's a shame we decorated champions have to meet like this." The brown gem said.
"You... you two are traitors!" Jasper snarled.
"Homeworld is a living nightmare and you know it." Red Pearl shot back.
"What I'm getting from this is that you two were into each other."
"...if you have to put it like that... yes, we were into each other."
"..Tell it to respect its superior." Jasper glared daggers at the two.
"She won't be doing anything for the likes of you!" Amber rushed Jasper and slashed at her at blinding speeds. The orange goliath had countless cuts on them within thirty seconds, and then they were slashed upwards by the furious prism.
"You did great! I give you my gratitude for standing up for me.." Vermillion Pearl thanked her.
"It sounds like you won."
"...Yeah..."
Jasper wasn't even close to giving up, in fact, she spin dashed forwards while Amber wasn't looking. "Weak!" She stabbed a strange yellow device into Amber... it destroyed her physical form and left one slightly brown-tinted triangular prism on the floor.
The fighting briefly paused; Everyone looked towards the prism and Vermillion Pearl, it was one of the Crystal Gems' trump cards who had been poofed.
"That's so underhanded!"
"After that... all I managed to remember was the old lab that Pink had for humans, but... it was managed by Blue at that point, and that's all I can remember... Now I'm here."
"If we ever go to Homeworld I promise the first thing we're doing is finding Vermillion Pearl."
"That means a lot."
