Ocean gem

(A/n: Second part uploaded during 2/24/23, nothing to say besides this is a long one)

"We're grounded?" Steven questioned.

"You can't ground me! Not if you aren't my parents." Y/n argued.

"Yes we can." Pearl said. "You disobeyed an order... and you got in my way." Garnet told. Amethyst clearly didn't understand what grounding meant. "Now we're gonna bury you 'til you learned your lesson." Amethyst said. Steven informed the purple gem that grounding wasn't *literally* grounding when Greg suddenly rushed into the temple.

"Uh, you guys better come check this out." He said while panting.

The gems and Y/n all rushed down to the beach to find that all the water had vanished. Mayor Dewey pointed the gems out before yelling at them through a megaphone.

"It was Lapis Lazuli." Garnet informed.

*"It's not like she had much other choice."* Y/n said under their breath which earned a glare from Pearl.

"Lapis Lazuli, the gem who was cruelly trapped in the mirror." Y/n explained to Steven when they saw he looked confused.

"She's a gem, just like us." Steven pointed out.

"There's a lot you don't know about gems, Steven and Y/n." The slender gem explained.

Steven packed his cheeseburger backpack and looked at his water gun, possibly contemplating bringing it. Y/n felt the urge to inform him that water wouldn't work on her, but didn't. Steven zipped his bag and put it on before walking to the door. "Steven, where're you going?" They asked.

"I'm leaving to fix what I did to our home." He maturely said. "I'm the one who set Lapis free from the mirror. Now it's my fault the ocean is gone. I'm gonna bring the ocean back or get really thirsty trying."

"I'm coming, then." Y/n boldly announced as they marched up to Steven.

"Yeah, me too." Greg said. Connie also agreed to help, as did the gems, as well as Steven's pink lion. "You two are ungrounded by the way." Garnet said, smiling. "Woohoo! Road trip!" Amethyst said as she stood from the kitchen counter.

Steven and Connie were riding on Lion, Y/n glided through the air by their summoned light platform, and Greg and the gems were in his van. Y/n suddenly heard rock music coming from the van and saw Garnet tumble out of the van of her own will. They almost fell face-first into the sand from laughter.

Garnet had opted to stay on top of the van and Pearl drove it since Amethyst and Greg were asleep in the back. Connie had also fallen asleep, while Y/n was going strong. They were now going uphill when Pearl and Steven started to talk. "I can't believe Lapis would do this." He said. "W-well I think there's good in her." Y/n interjected.

"—Gems shouldn't fight each other." Steven said.

"Well, we're always fighting gems." Pearl corrected.

"Well obviously." Y/n said.

"Ooh, what's what? I think Amethyst is about to eat your salt and vinegar flavored chaaaaps, Y/n!" Pearl lied. It worked as Y/n rushed to the back of the van to watch the purple gem like a hawk.

"..How do I put this... All gems aren't necessarily.. good." Pearl tried to explain to Steven. Amethyst suddenly came to the front to interject and say that their enemies were once like them.

Y/n glided back to the front of the van to glare at Pearl, bag of chaaaaps in hand. Pearl nervously chuckled, but everyone soon gasped as they saw a water pillar.

"This... this is what she meant by home." Y/n stated. "She meant Homeworld!"

"It's like an aquarium" Connie said.

"You shouldn't be here!" The water pillar echoed.

"Lapis Lazuli! It's me, Steven!" Steven announced to the pillar. "And me, Y/n." They added.

The water pillar formed a face similar to Lapis', "Go away before I make you." It spoke.

"But we're beach summer-fun buddies!" Steven interjected.

"You're one of them, one of the Crystal Gems." The water-face got close and said.

"I helped you." Y/n said."

"We aren't leaving, Lapis— Not until you give us back our ocean!" Steven said while slapping the water... a small fist came out of the pillar and grabbed onto Steven's shirt. "I said leave me alone!" It repeated while punching Steven away. Water mimics of the rest of the gems formed.

Garnet and her clone were locked in a punching clash before she was kicked away. Amethyst was throwing large rocks at her clone using her whip and then becoming the Purple Puma. Pearl slashed her clone in half, now having to fight two of them. Lion used its roars but kept missing, the water Steven then hitting Lion into the van.

Y/n leapt onto the water Steven and bashed into it with their light platform. It worked, however the water Steven reformed beneath the light platform and sent Y/n flying. Steven and Connie tried to counter it but were almost drowned by the water mimic.

Greg ran over the water Steven, commenting about how dangerous everything was. The water mimic launched the van high up while Y/n bashed the water Steven with a sword made from light.

"I don't wanna fight anymore." Steven announced as the water Steven formed a ball of water. It launched the ball at Steven, but he summoned his shield and blocked it. The sound reverberated and destroyed the water clones.

Steven marched to the water pillar.

"I'm-" Steven started, before feeling Y/n's hand on his shoulder. "We are coming up there... so please don't drown us." He said as he and them walked into the pillar and were shuttled up.

Lapis was visibly annoyed and asked "What are you two doing here?"

"What are you doing here? This is out of this world!" Y/n asked.

"Can't we work this out? We gems should be friends." Y/n coughed slightly. "And Y/n!"

"Don't you know anything Steven?" Lapis brought him closer to her and asserted. "Your friends, they don't really care about other gems. All they care about is the earth, but I never believed in this place."

"I just want to go home." Lapis longingly stated.

"I get how important home can be, but you took the ocean which is a part of my home." Steven explained.

"I'm only using the ocean because my gem is cracked." She replied.

"Well Steven has healing spit! He can heal your gem." Y/n stated.

"Sorry, this might feel a little weird." Steven said in advance as he licked his hand and slapped it into her gem. Lapis briefly shivered before her gem was repaired and water wings sprouted from her back.

"Thank you, Steven!" Lapis said. She flew off soon after. Y/n felt the urge to say something, but it was too late.

The water pillar started to collapse. Y/n was quick on their feet, summoning their light platform and gliding down to try and get Steven. Connie and Lion saved them first.

Y/n started gliding back to the temple, when they got there everyone else had already beaten them home, and the crowd started to congratulate Steven. Y/n felt like they should say something but instead smiled as they landed on the sand.
