The two warped into the kindergarten holding hands. Peridot looked flushed a darker green while Y/n almost laughed. "Jeez, what is this? Why's it in such bad shape?" They asked.
"It's been so poorly managed. It must have been in way better shape when you first emerged." She replied. "When I first emerged??" They thought.
"Emerged?" Y/n asked.
"Yes. Speaking of... where is your gem? What is your gem type?" Peridot inquiried.
"Uh... I'm a human, bucko."
"You display gem abilities."
"It's a long story... I'm just like Steven, but not at all. Hybrids, but completely different origins."
"How?"
"I'm starting to remember that myself."
"Oh. Well, let's hurry to the control room." Peridot changed the topic, the two now sliding down to the prime kindergarten control room.
"When it became clear that the Earth was no longer a viable colony, Homeworld decided to use it for something else: a series of experiments. A gem geo-weapon." Peri explained.
"Homeworld being homeworld, what else is new?" Y/n said casually. "Ain't this the place?"
"Positive. Can I have my hand back..?" She replied. Y/n simply let go of her hand. The green gem tapped a wall which made a panel come out that she tried to pull out and failed.
"It's over... I can't show you anything."
"Don't be sad, let me give it a shot." Y/n said, putting their feet on the wall and pushing off the wall to pull out the panel quickly. It worked leaving Peridot surprised. She started tinkering with the wires in the wall and restored the power.
"That'll do.." she sighed. Peridot soon groaned because she couldn't reach something.
"Eh?"
"Come on!"
"What's wrong??"
"I can't quite... reach the.. oh!" Y/n lifted Peridot up mid-sentence.
"It's okay to ask for help, Peri." Y/n giggled a bit. Peridot tapped a pedestal to lower it to her height, then Y/n put her down. She placed her hand on a center pedestal which lit up the control room. Gem shards were shown on the rooms screens.
"These are the early attempts at artificial fusion."
She explained."That's a lot of attempts."
"We were growing them here at this very site, but these were just prototypes for the final product." Peridot tapped the pedestal, projecting an overview on Earth with a marker on the east coast.
"A singular, giant, artificial fusion, comprised of millions of Gem shards. The Cluster."
"..You're saying there's a big mutant gem equal to the size of Earth underground??" Y/n questioned, seemingly tense.
"Oh, no, when it forms, it'll be much, much bigger than the Earth. Right now, it lies dormant, incubating in the Earth's core, but when it emerges and takes its physical form, it will destroy the planet." She clarified, not making their companion feel much better.
The screen showed the Earth expanding and shattering when the Cluster physically forms. Y/n stared at it.
"The prototypes are already emerging. The Cluster is next. If we can't get off this planet, we've got to stop the Cluster."
"Hell yes we're stopping that Cluster. There's billions of lives at stake." Y/n resolved. "Excuse my language."
"I thought it'd be impossible, but now we have a chance." Peri matter-of-factually said.
"Is this chance in the room with us?" Y/n joked.
"Yes. It's name is Y/n."
"M-me?? Is this the crap that Rose talked about??" The two climbed out of the control room.
"Now that you're filled in, we can get to work!" She exclaimed. "I appreciate being included but what the heck am I supposed to do??"
"Well, you have all the information that we need about Earth and its erratic behavior. Put that together with my expansive knowledge of the Cluster and we just might be able to stop it!" Peridot explained.
"I know some physics, biology... engineerin- no! We are not doing this alone!"
"We don't need anyone else! Let's just warp me back to the bathroom or whatever you call it and we'll take care of this." Peridot refused. Screeches were soon heard, frightening the two.
"Whatever that is doesn't sound friendly, let's go!" Y/n formed wings and grabbed Peridot to fly to the warp.
"Ow!" Y/n looked down to see a gem mutant pulling them by the wing... then throwing them into a corner.
"Urgh.." they groaned, looking up and seeing the gem mutant approach.
"N/n! Do something!" Peridot yelled.
"My powers are emotion-based... and they don't work when I'm scared... it rarely happens anymore, but.."
"That's it... we are finished!"
"Hang on, Y/n!" Steven said, throwing his shield at the cluster mutant in front of them to distract it. The other gems began poofing other monsters.
"Peridot, we have to ask them for help. We need the help of the Crystal Gems." Y/n told her.
"Y/n? Are you okay!" Pearl asked.
"Aww, I'm always better when you're around." Y/n smiled. Pearl didn't look too happy about the comment. "Sorry, not the time."
"Move aside, N/n." Peridot walked over to the Crystal Gems.
"Peridot?!" Amethyst said.
"What are you two doing here?!" Pearl asked.
"Would you believe me if I said... nothing??" Y/n questioned. The series of looks they got answered their question.
"I thought you were watching her." Garnet told.
"Uhhhh...."
"They did as directed... Alright, listen up you clo- nyargh- Crystal Gems! I've made up my mind. I have something to tell you about the Cluster."
