Mirror Gem

Y/n groaned in discomfort as they sat in their living room with M/n and D/n. "Something the matter?" M/n asked sweetly. "Nope." Was all Y/n responded with. They felt a vibration in their packet. They looked down to see 1 new message.

(783-836): hey is this Y/n?

(Me): yes, who is this?

(783-836): steven

(783-836): got ur number when u fought Pearl

Y/n suddenly remembered leaving their phone on the sidelines when they dueled with Pearl. They chucked to themselves before making Steven a contact.

(Steven💎): can u come over?

(Me): be right there.

Y/n slipped into something comfortable, which was fur pants, a hoodie, and sandals, and left the house. They saw Steven on the beach with some sort of mirror in his hand.

"Steven! ...What's that?" Y/n stepped on to the boardwalk and sat down on the sand right next to him. "It's a mirror!" Steven exclaimed; Y/n chuckled while they thought about the mirror's capabilities.

"Y/n! Watch this!" Steven said as he pointed the front of the mirror at them. The mirror used clips of Lars, Steven, and Sadie to form the sentences "Steven is a new friend; Y/n is a new friend." Y/n was both surprised and plagued with curiosity. Steven got up, tugged on Y/n, and ecstatically said "We gotta go tell the gems."

"Noooo!" The mirror shrieked in Steven's voice.

"Don't be shy, they'll love you." Steven responded.

"Noooo!" The mirror shrieked again in Steven's voice but with an echo.

Y/n turned their head to the side as they started to piece things together a moment too late.

"Guys! Wait until you see-"

"Yo, Ste-man!" "Hello, Steven." "Howdy. Bang." Amethyst, Garnet, and Pearl greeted him. Amethyst showed Steven Pearl's obsessiveness over symmetry while Y/n started running to the temple.

"How fast is he..? I'm not making it up there in time to diffuse the situation." Y/n said to themselves. They started up the stairs and could hear footsteps from inside nearing the door, then a "Noooo!" coming from the mirror. They slammed the door open as Garnet said "Don't make me take it."

Y/n jumped off the stairs, them too being in fear of Garnet. "Steven! That was rash, REALLY rash!" They said while hiding behind a rock with him. "Let me out!" The mirror said. Y/n peeked from behind the rock. "Come on. I want to help you! What can I do?" Steven said. The mirror showed him removing the gem from the mirror which he followed. The ocean receded around him and formed a complex symbol.

Y/n fully turned around to see the mirror shattered and a slender, cyan humanoid gem with a dark blue dress and short cobalt hair. Y/n turned a bit pink upon seeing Lapis for the first time.

"Thank you... you two actually talked to me!" The blue gem happily spoke. "It's Steven and Y/n right?" Steven and Y/n nodded. "I'm Lapis. Lapis Lazuli." She told them.

"Are you really Crystal Gems?" She asked.

"Steven, yes. Me... I haven't gone on any missions." Y/n said. "The Crystal Gems are really good people, they probably didn't... um..." They struggled to excuse their behavior which earned a chuckle from Lapis. "Great, cool, now that we're done with that we have some probl-"

"STEVEN!" Garnet yelled which spooked about everyone. Steven tried to de-escalate, but Lapis started commanding water. "You three knew I was in there, and you didn't do anything. Did you even wonder who I used to be?!" Lapis cried as she slammed the water-fist down on Garnet. "I'm Lapis Lazuli, and you can't keep me trapped here anymore!"

Lapis tried to take Steven with her but he refused. Garnet soon overpowered the water hand and started to rush over to Lapis. She came to an abrupt stop when Y/n stepped in her way equipped with a sword and shield like Rose's, except made from light.

Everything came to a standstill out of shock and surprise. "..Get out of my way, Y/n." The gem spoke with a tinge of anger in her voice.

"No. Lapis, leave while you can." Y/n spoke bravely.

"Don't trust them, Steven. Goodbye." She told Steven. Y/n couldn't see, but Lapis smiled at them before walking into the ocean.

Y/n looked down at their light equipment in utter shock, the items dissipating upon Y/n's emotions changing from seriousness to shock.

Pearl ran to Steven, as did the rest of the gems. "Steven, are you okay?!" The tall gem hugged Steven while asking.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Was that another gem?" He curiously asked.

"..Yes." Pearl sighed before answering.

"You two are grounded. Especially Y/n." Garnet nonchalantly said.

"What? But I-! All I did was—" Y/n sighed and accepted it.
