Same old world?

The gems, Peridot, Steven, and Y/n sat down outside the barn. Steven and Peridot were sharing their experiences with the cluster.

Y- - -o-'- - -l- -g h-r-" A voice wearily wheezed.

"What?" Y/n turned from side to side nervously. Time came to a halt. Y/n leapt up and looked around, noticing things ceasing their motion.

"..Pearl? Garnet? Amethyst? STEVEN?? ..Peridot..?"

"-o- -on'- b- -on- -er-" The same voice wheezed.

"What?? Who are you; What is this?"

The same voice repeated themselves, however their words came from every direction. "You don't belong here."

"With all due respect, what does that even mean?!" Y/n asked in exasperation.

"You received a mortal blow to the head recently, yet you look unscathed. Some people also happen to see you... differently."

"Wuzzat mean? I clearly look like-"

"Too much effort— don't even try it. But... observe." The voice stated. In the void that was left of the world, a scene played out. The green hand landed, and Jasper, Peridot, and... Y/n themselves emerged. Steven, Amethyst, Lapis, and Pearl looked shocked.

"Is that me...?"

"It's what you could have been, rather should have been. Word of advice, stop associating with those rocks, it will only bring you pain... after all, who knows you better than me? ...In d-e t—e you'— unde—t-a—."

The new world crumbled, and Y/n was in a hay bed in the barn. Many hours had passed in a couple minutes. "What the hell was that?" Y/n pondered— their thoughts were nothing bar existential. An abrupt noise from inside the barn broke the human from their trance.

For a couple seconds Y/n froze in fear. "Ah?" They eventually mumbled, turning and scanning the area. They saw Lapis Lazuli getting up from the hay.

"Lapis..?" Y/n steadily got up, suddenly having a painful migraine. "Urgh.."

"Y/n!" Lapis turned around.

"Are you leaving? Why... you just got here.." The human asked, "Jasper could be out there..!"

"I have to. I don't belong on Earth, not with the Crystal Gems. I never have..." She looked away

"I'm sorry... we only meet under the worst circumstances. Do you... think bad of me because of that..?" Wondered the human.

"What? Of course not. ...Goodbye again." Lapis looked more relieved.

"See you later?" Y/n started to tear up. Lapis took off, flying into the sky. The human trudged to their makeshift bed of hay in sadness. "Maybe that... thing was right. I really didn't want to see her go..."

Y/n scurried all across the barn in efforts to revamp it for Peridot. They knew she would be staying, so Y/n wanted to do something nice for once... but they got distracted and started dancing in the middle of the barn to relax. Quickly, regret vanished from their body.

Peridot returned from her talk with Steven rather quickly. "What are you doing?" She asked.

"Dancin', why?" Y/n spun around. After they first fused with Pearl, they learned how to dance together.

"Dancin'?" Peridot repeats. She seemed to be unaware of what dancing meant, instead of an explanation the human opted to show her, reaching their hand out.

"Here."

"Nyeh..." Peridot thought for a little before taking the human's hand.

"It's kinda easy.." The human explained, spinning the gem around and doing the mambo with her.
