"They've been asleep for hours..." Steven comments, looking at Y/n's body with Peridot.
"Hmmm."
Steven suddenly had an idea, he ran up the stairs to his room and got ready to jump down.
"Steven bomb!" He exclaimed, jumping down onto Y/n's body from his room.
Y/n immediately opened their eyes and rolled off of the couch.
"What the heck??" They ask, getting up from the ground.
"Well, I have a surprise for Peridot and she wanted you to be awake for it." Steven explained.
"Oh, okay. Well, let us be surprised." Y/n said, sitting back down on the couch. Peridot and Steven followed suit.
"It's a special delivery." Steven explained as he handed a gift-wrapped rectangle to Peridot.
"Oh. Wow. Thanks." She ripped open the package. "It's a... rectangle."
"Seriously? Peri, that's a tablet." Y/n said, grabbing it from her hands and turning it on.
"Yeah! My dad bought it but he decided he didn't need it. He said something about over-saturation of media being a plague to one's mind, so I thought you might like it." Steven added.
Steven then showed how the tablet worked, and Peridot was in awe. "Oh! It's like my old finger screens!" Peridot grinned.
"Yeah, just a lot less advanced. Kinda like us humans." Y/n added. "Speaking of advanced, you have the World Wide Web to explore."
"Worldwide?" Peridot chuckled. "Ha! I had the ability to search and retrieve data from across multiple star systems."
"But did they have TubeTube?" Y/n asked. When Peridot gave them a funny look they responded, "Didn't think so. Click that little red thing."
Peridot did as told and a video of a cat yowling and making clattering noises popped up.
"Why was this documented?" Peridot asked, being basically glued to the screen.
"You can log your thoughts on the internet as well. You just have to keep it under 140 characters." Steven noted.
"Oh no, my 141 character paragraphsss..." Y/n joked.
"That's so many people..." Peridot gasped in awe.
"I can make you an account so you can start logging as soon as you want." Steven started typing on the tablet.
Peridot crawled over to him, giggling. "I really, really like this, but it's a shame it doesn't come attached to your body." She then gasped as she had an idea, "Oh wait!"
Peridot ran to Steven's closet and started to rummage through it.
"Steven's gonna leave the profile-y bits blank for you!" Y/n explains, watching as he did so.
"Gimme." Peridot snatched the tablet and put the Velcro strap on the back of it. Then she did an over-the-top sequence of putting it on. "I've harnessed the power of your interlocking fabric strips."
Chuckles came from Steven, "Good thing I grew out of those shoes" he stated.
Peridot sighed, caressing the tablet fondly. "To have tech again. It feels good when everything is at your fingertips."
"That was pretty innovative, Peri." Y/n compliments.
"Oh it's nothing..." Peridot rubs the back of her neck bashfully.
"Yo," Amethyst walks in. "You guys look like you're having fun."
"Oh Amethyst, what do you think?" Peridot asks, flaunting her handiwork to the first gem she could.
