"Rose..." The human looked up at her.

"Yes, Y/n?"

"Was what I saw... real?" Y/n remembered the flames vividly.

"I'm sorry... it's going to come sooner than expected."

"I won't die or anything, right?" Y/n was concerned.

"Oh, heavens no!" Rose laughed.

"So I'll be fine?" Y/n sighed in relief.

"Err... i-in due time." She explained

"Okay... well, bye."

Y/n stood up and left their room. The Temple Gate opened for them like a regular gate, splitting in half, the sides swinging, and then back in once Y/n left. They heard a song playing in the background and saw the four gems dancing.

"Morning, guys. What are you doing? Dance party?" Y/n asked.

"Nah, we're trying to teach Steven how to fuse," Amethyst spoke.

"I am going to demonstrate how Garnet and I fuse. Pay attention now, Steven." Pearl and Garnet performed a ballroom dance. Garnet twirled Pearl around and then pinned her against the wall with both hands.

"I think Pearl and I could do way better," Y/n said with a hint of competitiveness. Garnet chuckled and let Pearl go.

Pearl looked at Y/n with a smile. They started a tad far from each other, Y/n beginning with a calm waltz. Pearl followed with a twirl and then a grand jeté. Her gem started to shimmer and they almost did fuse.

"That is a proper fusion dance." Y/n boasted.

Steven tried to dance with Pearl, Garnet, Amethyst, and even all three. Unfortunately, he failed in synchronizing with them each time.

Everyone walked into the kitchen to take a break, Steven having a towel around his neck.

"I don't get it, I thought I almost had it." The boy muttered.

"Nobody expects you to be able to fuse right away." Pearl comforted him.

"Yeah! It's really hard, even for us." Amethyst joined.

"Not for me." Garnet and Y/n replied, both of them laughing at each other.

"We'll keep working on the dance for now and who knows. In a few years... I wonder if Steven's body is even capable of fusion. It usually merges the physical forms of gems, Steven is organic but someone threw a monkey wrench into the formula." Pearl droned.

"That means there's a chance!" Steven chimed in.

"I think Steven can do it." Garnet looked at Steven.

Steven and Connie were outside the beach house talking about fusion, Y/n would've left but Steven was insistent on them staying and helping the two learn.
