Since Michael had told Theodora to spend an equal amount of time with both of her movie love interests, she decided to invite Zac Efron to a casual dinner at an Italian place around the corner from the resort considering she already spent most of her time with Brett.

Zac was more than happy to join her, it was no secret that he was also keen to spend more time with Theo.

Paparazzi hassled them throughout their entire dinner, taking sneaky photos of them through the bushes or sometimes shamelessly in their faces. Every time, Zac would tell them politely,

"Can you please respect us? We're trying to enjoy our dinner in peace." It bothered Theodora a lot, if this was what being a celebrity was like, she didn't want it.

Chatting with Zac was fairly easy and conversation flowed naturally, but she just wasn't feeling anything for him.

Mostly they were just talking about the movie, "I only have a couple of scenes left to shoot." Theodora told him, "Mostly they're with Brett, though."

"Ha! Brett, that dude makes me laugh." Zac exclaimed.

"Yeah, he's funny..." Theodora said, getting the impression that Zac wasn't being nice.

"Poor guy," He laughed, "he doesn't get that we're laughing at him, not with him."

Theodora's nervous smile dropped, her brows drawn together as she took in what he had just said. "What?"

"I mean, he's kinda a joke, don't you think?"

"No," She snapped, "you know he's my friend, right?"

"Theo, you're a bit above him... wouldn't you rather hang out with the real stars?"

Anger bubbling in her stomach, Theodora stood, "You're such an asshole!"

"Theo, calm down..." Zac looked around nervously, "People are starting to look." He added in a hushed tone.

"I'm outta here." She muttered, pushing back her chair and leaving the restaurant. She hoped that the paparazzi got a picture of his stupid face as he watched her leave.

Theodora made her way back to the resort, walking quicker than she expected because she was so angry. Passing the pool, she noticed someone sitting by the side, their feet dangling in the water.

It was dark, but the lights from the pool lit up the person's face, and it was Brett. Opening the gate, she approached him, calming down a lot at the sight of him.

"Oh, hey!" Brett's face lit up upon seeing her. "How was your... 'date' with Zac Efron?"

"It wasn't a date." She mumbled, sitting next to him cross legged. "And it was terrible. Who knew A-list celebrities could be such dickheads?" She added sarcastically.

"Never meet your heroes." Brett shrugged, looking down at the pool.

"True." Theodora sighed, digging around her pocket to pull out a joint. In her other pocket was her lighter, and with a couple of clicks she lit it.

Brett looked over to her as she took a hit, exhaling the smoke into the air above her. "You smoke weed often?"

"Not that often. Usually only with Andre, but that experience with Zac Efron was so fucked up I need this." She shrugged, before offering him the joint, "You wanna hit?"

"No, I'm alright." Brett shook his head.

"Have you ever?" Theo cocked her head to look at him.

"A couple of times in college." He admitted.

"Hm, surprising." Theodora smirked, coughing slightly. He looked over to her, a smile on his face,

"You think I'm a square, don't you?"

"I don't." She laughed, leaning back and stretching her legs out so they rested over Brett's.

He laughed nervously at the fact that her legs were touching him, before reaching for the joint, "I'll prove to you that I'm chill."

"Alright." She raised her eyebrows and watched him inhale deeply, before coughing loudly, quickly passing it back to her.

"That was lame." He laughed, embarrassed.

"You'll get used to it."

They passed the joint back and forth for a while, now both definitely high, talking about everything and anything.

"So, tell me why your date with Troy Bolton was terrible, Gabriella." Brett asked matter-of-factly, the whites of his eyes red.

Theodora giggled uncontrollably, "I told you it wasn't a date. I don't even liiiike him."

"Okay, okay. But he's a celebrity! Can you imagine dating a celebrity?"

"That would suck so badly. And can I admit something to you?" Theodora whispered.

"Yeah."

"I don't think Zac Efron is as hot as everyone says." She hissed in a low tone, causing Brett to gasp dramatically.

"What?"

"And..." She giggled, "I only found him attractive in that Ted Bundy thing. Is that weird? Am I a freak?"

Both of them burst out in laughter, tears forming in Theo's eyes as she caught her breath and looked at Brett curiously.

"Can I ask you something super personal?" She breathed, a hand on his arm.

"Sure." Brett was in another dimension.

"What's your deal? You never talk about your girlfriends. Do you have a girlfriend?"

"Right now? I don't have a girlfriend." Brett answered.

"Because I know you aren't gay." Theodora brought her face closer to him, a smirk on her face. His heart thumped against his chest, he wasn't even sure if this was even happening in real life. Her face was so close to his that he could count her freckles. What did she mean by that?

"I'm just waiting for the right girl to come along." Brett said truthfully, leaning his head away from her slightly, he didn't want a repeat of the other night. Well, he did but- "No one ever takes me seriously, you know, they never actually want to get to know me."

"Brett," Theodora said seriously, looking between his eyes, "I promise you, one day the right girl will come along."

Brett sighed, looking back at her. He already knew who the right girl was, but she may never be his. Theodora smiled, resting her head on his shoulder, "You deserve only the best, Brett."

"Thanks, Theo." He said quietly, resting his chin on her head. "So... what about you? Do you think... Jasper is the one?" He swallowed thickly, waiting for her answer.

"Truthfully? No." Theodora admitted, looking down at her hands, "I try to love him but I don't know how. I mean, I like him and he's a great guy but I don't know... should it be this hard to fall in love? Shouldn't it come easily?"

"To tell the truth, I have no idea either. I've only ever been in love once and it did not end well." Brett confessed.

"How so?"

"She ripped my heart out." Brett sighed, "Metaphorically, obviously."

"Oh God, that's terrible." Theo grimaced.

"It's okay. I'm over it." He shrugged. "It was a long time ago."

"And hey, I've only ever been in love once before as well. But he cheated on me a million times and now I think... I've forgotten how to trust people." Theo said.

Brett looked down at her. Her heartlessness towards Jasper made sense, she was too scared to trust him because she was afraid of being hurt. But on the other hand, she trusted Brett with her life.

"Might be the weed talking, but I'm starving." Theodora sat up again, "Want to go inside and raid the snack cupboard?"

"I would love nothing more." Brett grinned.
