Brett and Theodora were driving back from one of their date nights, it was late and also raining pretty heavily. It was a miracle that they had even made it this far in the rain, Brett could barely see what was in front of them. And to make things worse, the street lights were out.

"I can't see a single thing!" Brett complained, leaning forward and squinting as if that would help him see better.

"Maybe we should pull over and wait for the rain to stop." Theodora shrugged. "But it could be like this for hours. Let me check the forecast."

So Brett pulled over in the quiet street, the only sounds being the rain pouring down and the radio softly playing 90s r&b.

"I kind of want to go out there." She peered out the window.

"Really?" Brett turned to her in surprise, "Wouldn't it be cold? And... wet?"

"That's the point of it." Theodora grinned, "Come on!"

She opened the door, and the rain sounded 10 times louder and heavier as she did so. She was drenched the minute she stepped out but she didn't mind. Rounding the car to Brett's side, she opened the door.

"Come on," Theodora grabbed his arm, "it's... refreshing." She said while blinking water out of her eyes, hoping not only to convince Brett but also herself.

"You are the wildest girl I know." Brett shook his head with a smile, but followed her into the middle of the street.

The sounds of her giggles and exclamations made him smile, at this point he didn't even care that he was getting wet, he loved seeing Theo have fun.

He twirled her around with his hand before bringing her back close to him in an embrace. He could feel her laughing against him, he was sort of shielding some of the rain from her.

"You have to admit," Theodora looked up at Brett. "this is pretty exhilarating." She turned her face up to the night sky, closing her eyes and feeling the rain on her face. Brett watched her with admiration.

"It does feel a bit like a movie." Brett said, "Like that bit from The Notebook."

"You do give me Ryan Gosling vibes." Theo pondered, moving his wet hair from his face.

"Really?" His face lit up, "That has to be the best compliment I've ever received."

"I think you're better looking, though." Her hand traced his jawline. "You want to recreate that bit from The Notebook?"

"Oh, we gotta." Brett nodded, "It would be stupid not to."

With that, Brett leaned down and kissed Theo, taking her almost by surprise by how passionate it was. There was just something about the rain that just made everything more intense.

Brett's hands held her face, he kissed her like it was his last chance. The rain seeped through their clothes, but it would be much more uncomfortable if they weren't too caught up in the moment.

They jumped apart when the sound of a car horn honking filled the street, and a pair of lights blinded them.

"Ha, shit." Theodora laughed, grabbing Brett's hand and pulling him off the road. "I forgot we were in the middle of the road."

The rain persisted and showed no signs of stopping. "You were right. It is cold and wet." Theodora shivered and they hopped back in the car. Her teeth chattered involuntarily as she wrapped her arms around herself.

"I'll turn the heaters on." Brett turned on the car and cranked up the heaters. The 90s r&b continued to play where they left off.

Their clothes were sticking to them, their hair plastered to their face. Brett shook his hair out like a dog, and Theo shielded herself from the water he sprayed.
