Reagan and Theodora exchanged a glance, they weren't sure what to do.
"Sorry, Brett." Reagan murmured, "Bear-o!" She called, and the robotic bear came charging through the doors. Reagan grabbed Theo's hand as she jumped on the robot's back.
Theo glanced back at Brett with guilty eyes as Bear-o smashed through the glass and was now hanging onto the ledge. "Dad, jump!"
"Those are my girls!" Rand said smugly, jumping after them.
"Guys, no!" Brett peered over the ledge as the three of them jumped onto the floor below, "Theo!"
"#RandInnocent!" Rand yelled in glee as they ran. "Come on, I know where we can hide out." They followed Rand's lead as he jumped into the shark-infested waters, swimming after him as he went through a tunnel in the Mayan calendar.
They came out the other side hacking and coughing wildly, Theodora stood and wrung her skirt out. "Ah, thanks for saving me, girls." Rand said.
"Do not make us regret this." Reagan warned, standing up, "We have to prove that you're right, or we're all getting fired, disappeared, and/or eaten by sharks... Kind of a stakes overkill."
"Yeah, a lot of redundant stakes."
"Stakes a-poppin'."
"Oh no," Theo muttered as they followed Rand to a door, "I feel terrible."
"You chose the right choice, sweetie." Rand assured her.
"No, Brett's never going to forgive me." Theodora turned to Reagan, who placed an arm around her reassuringly.
"It'll be fine." She said, "And, uh, where the hell are we?"
"Behind here is a surveillance feed of the entire office." Rand said as the security scanned his eye, before the door unlocked, "I built it during the height of the cocaine crisis to weed out any squares."
With struggle, Rand opened the door, "This is how we're gonna find that mole."
"You built a secret surveillance state within a secret surveillance state?" Theo asked as she stepped inside the severely outdated surveillance room.
"Ain't she pretty? Back in my day, the cameras never stopped rolling, and the fear flowed like wine." Rand sighed deeply, "Ah, I wish I could go back for the steady stream of grovelling alone." Reagan sat down on one of the machines, sighing sadly. "Kiddo?"
"I thought I was gonna be different from J.R." Reagan's eyes were fixated on the ground, "On my first day, I had to drug my team and ride a robot bear through a shark tank. Maybe I'm... maybe I'm not cut out for this."
Rand sat down next to her, and Theo on the other side. "Hey, you made it further than your old man." He assured her, "If I'd gotten complete control of the company, I'd have spent my first morning, I don't know, disappearing anybody your mom's ever dated and just killing people for fun." Reagan didn't seem to have cheered up, "Be a dear and access the surveillance tapes. Daddy's gonna rustle up some black cherry Tab."
Rand crossed the room and opened the minibar, and Theo placed her arm around Reagan. "I think you're actually doing really well, considering the circumstances." She said quietly, "Anyone else would have cracked under this kind of pressure."
"Thanks, Theo." Reagan murmured, before approaching the old computers to start accessing the surveillance tapes. Theo hoisted herself up onto the surface, kicking her feet back and forth as they waited for the tapes to load.
"Jesus, I've seen potato clocks with more RAM." Reagan murmured before someone began banging on the door to the room.
"Reagan, Theo, we know you're in there!" It was Brett, and Theo felt her heart tug. She jumped down from the counter, but Reagan grabbed her arm to stop her from going to the door.
"Guys, we need some time to find the mole!" Reagan yelled back, "I don't wanna hurt anyone."
"You already have!" Brett called back.
"I'm gonna need something to hold them off." Reagan said, glancing around, "Dad, is there anything in here that is not a computer the size of a house?"
"The animatronic cryptids." Rand darted over to where the controls for the animatronics were, "Our first generation of conspiracies just had that charm of practical effects, huh?"
"Those are terrifying." Theodora shuddered, "Are you sure they're safe?"
"They 100% aren't." Rand chuckled before the door of the room was ripped off, making the three of them jump.
"Freedom!" Glenn was in one of Reagan's robots, and had his face painted like he was ready for war.
"Try me, dolphin." Rand flipped a switch to turn on the animatronics, "You don't know who you're fucking with! I'm the man who killed disco."
Rand, along with the animatronics, proceeded to fight the others, while Reagan and Theodora stood behind the controls apprehensively.
"What the fuck." Theodora murmured, glancing at Reagan.
"Alright, this needs to stop." Reagan snapped, "Dad, these are our friends!"
Rand glanced back at his daughters briefly, before the animatronic that he was sitting on clasped its hand around Brett's neck. Rand began punching Brett, until his nose was bleeding.
"Dad, stop it!" Theo snapped, striding over and pulling out the gun she had pocketed earlier. For a split second Brett was concerned that she was actually going to shoot someone but she only pressed it against Rand's head.
"Whoa, honey, where'd you get that?" Rand asked shakily.
"Let go of him." She demanded, and Rand slowly slid off the back of the animatronic.
"Relax, Theo! Put down the gun." Reagan yelled, "And dad, I'm not murdering anyone! I am not that kind of boss!" She powered down the animatronics, and everyone turned to face Reagan. "I'm the mole." She declared.
"What?"
"I mean, not really. But we're all about to die because we can't find the mole." Reagan said, "I have to take this one for the team so there can be a team. Take me to Shadow prison."
"Reagan, no, sweetie." Rand started.
"There's gotta be another option!" Brett added.
"Well, I can't choose between my family and my friends. I'm choosing to be a good boss the only way I know how." Reagan sighed, before a beeping caused them to all glance towards the computers, "The surveillance footage!"
"You'll see I wasn't the mole." Rand smirked as they all crowded around the screen, "The mole was..."
"Holy shit." Everyone gasped as a familiar bear-shaped robot appeared on the tapes.
"Bear-o's the mole?" Reagan exclaimed, the lights flickering.
"It's okay, Reagan." Everyone turned at the sound of a robotic voice, and Bear-o rolled in, "Do you need a hug?"
