Reagan and Theodora were at their mother's house, lounging by the pool, sipping martini's and talking. Well, it was mostly Tamiko talking about herself and her affair with the pool boy.

"And one thing led to another," Tamiko laughed, "and now I'm gonna have to find a new pool boy."

Both girls looked mildly concerned,

"You hooked up with the guy who cleans your drains?" Reagan's voice was laced with criticism as the three of them looked over to the other side of the pool where the pool boy was 'working'. For once, Theo was glad that Reagan was directing her judgment towards someone other than her.

"Mom, how old is he?" Theo frowned.

"Let's just say Rodrigo did a very thorough job." Tamiko smirked, "Shame I'm dumping him for his cousin." She added with a sigh.

God, Theo thought to herself, now I know why I jump from one guy to the next so quickly. Must be hereditary.

"Oh hey, now that he's available, he can be your plus-one to my next book signing!" Tamiko said excitedly.

"Yeah, Reagan," Theo smiled, "isn't that just a great idea?"

Reagan glared at the two of them, "Why would I wanna date your hand-me-down boy toy? I don't wanna sound elitist, but he's covered in vegetable oil." The pool boy was, in fact, pouring oil over himself as Reagan spoke.

"You haven't had a serious boyfriend since college, and it's worrying." Tamiko said seriously, "You know, Theo has a boyfriend."

"Theo always has a boyfriend!" Reagan snapped angrily, "She has a new one every week! So which is worse, never having a boyfriend, or having too many?"

Tamiko and Theo glanced at each other before answering at the same time, "Never having a boyfriend."

"Well, I'm single by choice, because I have a fulfilling career where I am doing really important things." Reagan justified herself.

"Yeah, sure." Theo frowned.

"And besides, you have to learn to love yourself before letting someone else love you. Have you ever thought about that, Theo? When was the last time you took time for yourself?"

"I already love myself, Reagan." Theo shrugged, but she sort of saw truth in what her sister was saying. Maybe being with Jasper wasn't the best move for her. But could she even classify him as a boyfriend? Their relationship was purely sexual and Theo couldn't really imagine it being any other way.

"Theo, hurry up!" Reagan snapped from the living room one gloomy morning. Theodora was still getting ready, and was nowhere near close to being able to leave.

"Ugh!" She groaned as she couldn't get her skirt on, stamping her foot on the ground in anger. "Fuck me!"

"I swear to God, I am about to leave." Reagan stuck her head around her sister's door.

"Just go then!" She was hot and bothered, frustrated from being rushed. "I'll just get an Uber." Theodora finally managed to get her skirt on, zipping it up.

"Alright." Reagan shrugged, before leaving. "And this is the last time I let this slide!"

Theo finally managed to get ready, and caught an Uber to work, an hour late. At some point she stopped trying to rush, she was already late so she may as well take her time.

Taking the steps two at a time to the front entrance, she halted at the door.

Her heart dropped as she checked each of her pockets, she had forgotten her key card. "Fuck!" She groaned, slamming a fist on the door, she could picture it laying on her bedside table.
