A week passed,

"Theo, hold up!" Brett caught up to Theodora, who was about to open the door to the meeting room.

"Oh, hey stranger." She smiled.

"So, I was thinking, I could take you out to dinner tonight, since I y'know... missed your birthday last week and everything." Brett said, looking down at her with eager eyes.

"Alright." Theodora grinned, fixing the collar of his shirt, before keeping her hands on his chest, "Our first official date."

"Sweet! I'll pick you up at 8?"

She opened her mouth to reply, but the doors swung open and they jumped apart.

"Guys, we're waiting for you." J.R raised one eyebrow, looking between them.

"Sorry J.R." Brett said quickly, squeezing his way into the room. Looking suspiciously at Theo, J.R followed Brett back in, and she wasn't far behind.

That night, Theodora got ready and Reagan helped her with her outfit options.

She was almost ready, and was touching up her makeup in the mirror in the living room.

"Why am I nervous?" She paced as she waited for Brett. "I've never been nervous for a date in my life!"

"Relax, it means you actually like Brett." Reagan sighed, watching her sister freak out. "This is what normal people feel."

"Hold on, you're going out with Brett?" Rand frowned from the couch, "He's the guy that just smiles and nods at everything, isn't he?"

"Yeah," Reagan said absentmindedly, partially ignoring her father, "and Theo, you've known him for like a year so what's to be nervous about?"

Theodora made a small squeaking noise when the doorbell rang, and Reagan shooed her along so she went to the door to open it.

Not wanting the awkwardness of Brett having to speak with her father, who would no doubt say something stupid, she slipped out the door quickly and faced Brett.

"Theo!" His face lit up at the sight of her, "You look... so amazing!" His voice was earnest and made her cheeks flush red.

"Thanks," For some reason she couldn't make eye contact with him, her stomach alive with butterflies. "you look really good as well."

Brett was amused at her sudden shyness, "You ready to go?"

"Uh huh." She nodded nervously, following him to the car. He was a perfect gentleman, opening her door for her and everything.

Some 90s song played on the radio as she fiddled with her hands,

"Hey," Brett spoke up, "are you okay? Remember, it's just me, there's no need to be nervous."

"I'm sorry, I don't know why I'm being weird." Theodora blurted out, looking over to him.

"It's alright." His voice was soothing to her, and one hand left the steering wheel to rest on her thigh. Her stomach erupted with butterflies at the feeling, but she wasn't as nervous anymore.

Brett took them to an Italian place, and they sat as they waited for their food.

Brett began talking her ear off about things that happened at work and his new favourite songs, and they shared meaningless stories about their days.

"And then she was like that skirt doesn't match that top," Theodora was saying,

"That bitch!" Brett exclaimed.
