"Shit! Crapping-ass! Damn it! Pants full of fucking shit!"
The team reluctantly went to J.R's office to see what the breach was, "There's a mole in our midst. They've broken in and stolen the unspoken file." The group collectively gasped.
"What's the unspoken file?" Brett asked, glancing around for context.
"The one we don't speak about." Gigi hissed, "You got a brain under that hot face?"
"It's the master dossier of every conspiracy we have ever committed." Reagan explained, "If that gets exposed, the whole company goes down!"
"Someone here is trying to personally fuck me over, and I won't have it." J.R pointed his golf club at the group one by one, "If the Robes find out about this, the only place I'll be promoted to is Shadow prison X."
"The place we disappear people to that's so secret even we don't know where it is?" Andre gasped.
"That's where we sent the third Olsen triplet." Theodora added, glancing at Gigi.
"Pour one out for Stacey May Olsen." Myc shook his head solemnly.
"Okay, let's just all stay calm and be reasonable about this." Reagan said.
"I'm filling the atrium with sharks trained in Krav Maga!" J.R yelled, smashing a button that released shark-infested water into the atrium.
"Why do we even have that?" Theo frowned as they followed J.R out to observe what he had just done.
"I'm going to my coronation ceremony come hell or shark water." J.R said, "Reagan, you wanted to be boss. Here's your first task. Find the mole by end of day, or I'm disappearing every one of you!"
•
"Okay, Reagan, no pressure." They were back in J.R, or Reagan's, office, trying to figure out how to find the mole. Reagan was pacing and talking to herself. "You have ten hours to find the mole, or everyone dies. This job is my dream, I will not give up on my utopia!"
"I can't go to Shadow prison X." Glenn said nervously, "I created all their torture devices with the express understanding I'd never have to experience them!"
"Okay, whoever did this wanted to take down J.R and didn't care about the fallout." Reagan reasoned, "But why? Who in this company would be such an asshole?"
The entire group looked over to Myc simultaneously. "Oh, come on." The mushroom exclaimed.
"No, there's only one truly vengeful traitor in the building, and I know because it's basically all he talks about..." Reagan pondered. Everyone exchanged knowing glances, they knew who she was talking about. Except Theodora, she looked around helplessly,
"Who?"
"Alpha-Beta." Reagan said as if it were obvious.
"Who?" Theodora glanced at Brett for context.
"You know, the homicidal robot president Reagan keeps in the basement of her lab?" He explained.
"What?"
So they all went down to Reagan's lab, where there was in fact a robot without his legs, trapped in a glass cage.
"Am I the only one who didn't know about this?" Theodora frowned, circling the cage in awe. "You kept this thing, Reagan?"
"Were you just... not there during that whole clone thing?" Andre asked with a confused frown.
"No." She scoffed, "As if no one noticed."
"You are pretty forgettable." Myc nudged her with his tentacle.
"Ew." She shied away from him.
"Theodora," Alpha-Beta spoke, making Theodora jump in surprise.
"Jesus." She breathed, a hand on her chest and looking down at the robot.
"I've heard all about you. And I've watched you, too." He said maliciously, "Reagan's self-obsessed little sister."
"Uh-" She wanted to ask so many questions, but didn't know where to even start.
"It's crazy to finally meet you." His tone turned more girlish and inviting. "It was like watching a TV show, the whole 'will they, won't they' of you and Brett."
"Okay, that isn't what we're here for." Reagan was growing impatient, "It was you who stole the unspoken file, wasn't it? You're the mole."
"It was not. Besides, I can't be your mole. I've been trapped in a glass tomb for a reason we've all forgotten." Alpha-Beta said.
"Attempted global genocide?" Reagan muttered.
"Do us all a favor, build a bridge and get over it." The robot scoffed, "Am I right, folks?"
Myc laughed, "This guy is a pistol. Why don't we hang out more, man?"
"His casing is intact." Reagan concluded, "There's no way he could've stolen the file."
"Ah, but I saw on the security log that J.R's door was opened at midnight by someone with department-head clearance." Alpha-Beta said with an evil grin.
"Wait, but wouldn't that mean that the mole would have to be-" Brett started.
"Someone in this room!" The rest finished, glaring at each other accusingly.
"Drama!" Alpha-Beta said in a sing-song voice.
Not wanting the robot to hear their discussion, they went back up to Reagan's new office. A timer displayed on the screen which counted down the hours they had until the end of the day, the amount of time Reagan had to find the mole.
"Okay, we're still a team... except for the one of us that's not." Reagan reasoned, but the group certainly were more wary of each other.
"Can't Myc just tell us who did it?" Gigi sighed impatiently, leaning against the desk with her arms crossed.
"My, uh, psychic powers are tapped out." Myc said, "I might have gone a little overboard test-driving Reagan's new spank tank."
"That sounds like something a leaker would say," Glenn growled, "Look, he's leaking right now!"
"You're quick to point a flipper." Myc sprang to his own defence, "I say Glenn's the mole. His backstory doesn't make any sense: he's a human who became a dolphin, but his last name has always been Dolphman? I'm calling bullshit."
"Huh, I never even thought about that." Theodora murmured to herself, glancing at Glenn in curiosity.
"I have an idea," Brett spoke up, "Maybe we can share the blame equally, like best bros!"
"You'd love that. Maybe Brett's the mole, and he did this to force all of us to be best buddies in prison forever!" Gigi snapped.
"Everybody calm down." Reagan interrupted, "Don't forget, this is Cognito 2.0, I'm gonna solve this humanely. None of us have left the building, so the unspoken file hasn't left the building. We'll search office by office. We find the file, we find the mole."
a/n: ugh i'm losing interest in this story but i am so determined to finish it. i blame it on inside job getting cancelled, the fandom just like disappeared
