better as friends

Jennie: did I do something that made you do this?

taehyung: no jen, it's not your fault. there are just a lot of things happening in my life. I'm just too overwhelmed. it's not your fault. our friendship made it a bit better.

taehyung remembered what bogum had said. 

bogum: why are you in a relationship with Jennie, first learn to love yourself before trying to love someone else. and if you wait in this relationship for too long, Jennie may fall for you too. but you may not. it would just hurt her. sometimes, friendship is a lot better than a relationship.

he also remembered his talk with ji-eun. taehyung held Jennie's hand a looked at her...

taehyung: listen jen, I've been thinking... we aren't really in love with each other. why are we forcing this relationship then? I think we are better as friends.

Jennie: thank god, you think the same thing. I was afraid that you would want this relationship. I love you but as a friend.

taehyung: let's just stay friends then, I have a lot on my plate right now and a relationship is the last thing I need.

Jennie: but we still are best friends, aren't we??

taehyung: of course.

then they talked for a while, and Jennie left the room. she came out to see that bogum had left and Jimin and yoongi were talking with the doctors. Jungkook was resting his head on ji-eun's shoulder while crying while ji-eun was comforting him. 

Jennie: mom, kook... we broke up.

ji-eun: you and taehyung?

Jennie: we decided we were better as friends. since we are not in love with each other. 

ji-eun: whatever gives you happiness.

the three of them sat there for some time when yoonmin came.

yoongi: why don't you all go home... taehyung's okay. you all need rest.

they both convinced ji-eun and Jennie to go home but Jungkook was not budging.

Jungkook: I can't go home leaving him here... I'm gonna stay here... please don't make me go home.

yoonmin understood Jungkook wouldn't go home and ji-eun told them to let him stay. she will bring his clothes.

THE NEXT DAY

it had been more than 24 hours since taehyung had woken up and Jimin and yoongi kept him company continuously. Jungkook hadn't left the hospital for a second, nor had he slept for a second. he just sat in the waiting room. Jimin tried to convince Jungkook to at least sleep but Jungkook was not ready to listen. Jimin gave up at last.

Jimin was currently talking to taehyung trying to lighten up his mood.

taehyung: you know, I and Jennie broke up.

Jimin: yeah, I heard her telling ji-eun and Jungkook.

taehyung: Jungkook was here?

Jimin hesitated for a moment.

Jimin: he is still there. he came the minute you were taken to the emergency room and hasn't left since. he is not leaving no matter how we try to convince him. he hasn't even slept since then.

taehyung: can you send him in?

Jimin: tae... your mental condition is very important right now.

taehyung: please...

Jimin: fine... 

Jimin went out and saw Jungkook sitting on one of the benches staring into space, with messy hair, and dark circles under his eyes.

Jimin: kook...

Jungkook looked up at him.

Jungkook: what? did something happen? is bun alright? did he try to do something again?

Jimin: no... he is okay.

Jungkook let out a sigh of relief.

Jimin: he wants to see you.

Jungkook gulped. taehyung wanted to see him? that didn't make any sense.
