Melody's POV
We entered the carnival with happy smiles on our faces; I took the time to assess what Chase is wearing. He wore a dark blue V-neck shirt that fit snuggly on his body and showed off his eyes. He paired it with some black skinny jeans and his trade-mark leather jacket. As per usual he wore his black converses. I must admit he looked hot.
He looked up from his phone and said, "Derrick, Nathaniel, and Brock are at the jumping castle, such children."
"Yes!" Alisha hollered.
She looked at us innocently and said, "What? It will be fun."
Cassie rolled her eyes and slightly pushed Alisha laughing, soon after I joined and we made our way to the jumping castle. It took us ten minutes to find the thing, we eventually saw Derrick in the jumping castle with a group of little kids. He was getting trampled as Nathaniel and Brock were clutching their stomachs from laughing so much. Chase chuckled but we waited for Derrick to get out.
He finally made it out tripping over anything in his way and trotted over to us, as if nothing happened, "I hate kids." He stated.
At that Cassie, Alisha and I all made eye contact and burst into a fir of giggles.
"Okay, where to?" Chase casually asked Nathaniel.
"Well I saw a roller coaster on the other side of this place, but there are a few games down here, want to do that first?"
"Yeah, you guys coming?" Chase asked us, looking at me.
"Uh, I was thinking we walked past a laser tag area and if I could go play that?" I explained.
"Yeah, that's cool we will meet you ate the roller coaster at around eight pm?" Chase said.
"Sounds great!" Alisha said grabbing my arm and dragging me in the opposite direction. I just followed with them and we went scouting for the laser tag. Alisha, Cassie and I always used to play laser tag with our parents. We were like one massive family until Alisha's mum died from a disease and her farther left her to fend for herself. Eventually we took her in until graduation and that is when we bought the apartment. Man, that was just two years ago.
"C'mon Melody, we are nearly at the front of the line." Cassie said with glee in her voice.
We reached the top of the line by two games after and we ran in.
"Okay, are there any teams?" I asked suspiciously.
"I thought we could all be a team." Alisha said smiling.
Cassie and I looked at each other and said, "Yeah, sure!"
We put on our vests and grabbed our guns making our way into the arena. We decided to stick together because if one of us go down then the other two can defend. I saw in my peripheral vision a guy about to shoot Cassie and shot him straight in the chest, his vest made a 'Bing!' and he was out for thirty seconds. We ran through another hallway and came face to face with ten people three of which were girls and seven which were guys. They all shot at us but most of them hit me. My vest glitched and I had to leave the arena.
I sent a quick text to Cassie saying-
I am going to the stall like ten meters away from the arena meet me there. X
Once the game ends she should check her phone, so I know she will receive it. I made my away over to one of the game stalls where yopu throw balls into the clown's mouth. I asked to play and handed the money over to the man. I won a small stuffed bear and smiled. Walking away I made my way to another stall a little further away. I stopped in my tracks when I walked past someone familiar. I retreated and saw a little dark area where Chase was standing looking at his phone.
"Chase?" He snapped his head up and shook his head, placing a finger over his mouth indicating for me to be quiet. I nodded he put his phone on speaker.
"What do you want Jedd?" Chase growled.
"You know what I want Chase, I want the diamonds." Jedd spoke back harshly.
"What is the big deal about those stupid diamonds, this happened four years ago?" Chase yelled.
I widened my eyes, four years ago was when Trent and I had the big fight and when the baby died.
"It doesn't matter if it happened four years ago, I need them back!" Jedd spat.
"Honestly go find some more diamonds for yourself." Chase was about to hang up when Jedd said, "They aren't my diamonds."
"Whose are they then?" Chase questioned looking up at me.
Jedd cruelly laughed, "Meet me at 'your little spot' in two days."
"No, whose diamonds are they?" Chase pressed further.
"Trust me, if you don't little Melody gets hurt." Jedd fired back.
Chase rolled his eyes but the next four words made my mouth drop open in shock.
"Oh, and there Trent's"
He hung up after that and Chase straight away looked in my direction slowly walking over.
"I am going with you." I stated.
"No, you are not. I will have Brock at your house and I will go with Derrick." Chase said firmly.
"No, Chase this is my choice, I am coming with you." I looked at him dead in the eyes not once losing eye contact.
He sighed running a hand through his hair, "No, honestly it would be safer if you were not in the open and with someone that could help you."
I looked at Chase placing my hands on his shoulder, "Wouldn't you want me with you? I mean so that way if anything does happen everyone can get things done quicker."
He looked at for a second and thought about it before finally answering with, "Fine, but you stick by Derrick and Brock at all times. If needed stick by me."
I nodded smirking but then curiously asked, "Why do you want to protect me? Why does Jedd keep going after me? Why not Derrick?"
Chase went to go say something when he received a text, "It is Derrick, they are at the roller coaster with your friends, let's go."
He went back to a poker face and brushed past me.
